hey there... im no lao jiao,ive been inactive for nearly a year,ive lost touch on bikes as well.so i can definately learn and share knowledge from all of you too

hi bros, juz need to ask your opinion(s). juz finished paying for my current bike, a Yamaha X1, and interested to upgrade to either a CBR 400 or a RVF. Just need to clear some doubts before making such a decision.

 

1) Which bike is easier to maintain?

2) Which is a better ride in terms of posture (for both rider and pillion)?

3) Speed, in terms of pickup and top speed

 

I've viewed 2 bikes at Southern Motor earlier. One's a FQ RVF, COE till 2018. Looks pretty much stock, and going for abt 7k and a bit on the road. The other's a FN CBR 400, didn't get which series but going for abt 4k. COE is till 2016 But salesman mentioned no power cut n such. What i can see is a Yoshi pipe. I'm pretty new to all this, and unsure abt what series and such. Just an interest in racers. Both engine condition untested, so not too sure.

 

So, would appreciate any comments/feedback on the bikes above and the shop even.

hey hilmi,i'll share my view on your questions..

 

1)maintenance wise id say cbr is cheaper in terms of spare parts.

2)posture wise its both a sportbike,which means you will hunch in both bikes as well as pillions.

3)based on what i experienced,at the end of the day its still the hand that squeezes the throttle.ive seen a rxz kick the **** out of rvf and cbr on track...so i guess which is faster doesnt really matter as its all in the rider.

 

for me important is to choose something that you're comfortable with financially as we know in spore its all about the money.so getting a bike should never be a burden,bear in mind you will DEFINATELY have to repair a lot of things as both bikes are old.choose something you know you'll be comfortable and happy with at the end of the day.

 

just my opinion,i may be wrong though.cheers man.

Hmm lots of discussion on CBR i dun usually reply unless tech or bike related..CBR good bike to keep as the value is stable unlike all class 2 bikes...n becomin rare handling is good compared to s4 etc..parts still strong in japan and if u intend to keep long like me(8+ yrs) wat i do is juz buy an engine fm japan and use mileage 15-25km usually..SGp bike engines not so gud then u have trouble free..besides electrical parts wear n tear (all hondas do) nothin much on engine.

im going to shower my cbr with more love tmr at shun li, front forks, eng oil, plugs, coolant etc.haha hows your bike bro?

 

anyway, im having abit of an issue with my steering now guys. my bike like doesnt seem to wanna go down when i corner, feels stiff on the handlebar. even when i shift my entire body weight. and it only feels this way on the left side, which means right turns, corners are fine. anyone experienced similar situations before? dont know if its my forks, steering cone, wheel bearings? ANY INPUT WOULD BE USEFUL
