Hey guys need help!!! I collected my cbr400 this afternn and everything was fine till I stopped at a traffic light at orchard ( came all the way from kaki bukit). The engine just died and I had to startthe bike which I had to switch off the lights first. Then after shopping blah blah, I went home from there and at punggol the traffic light, I stopped and the bike died again. But this time totally can't start. When I turn on the key, all the neutral, side stand lights are on but when I push te start, the lights just dim and bike can't start. There's a bit of the engine tryig to start sound but just can't start. End up call friend come push start thn can work... Any idea what's the problem?thnks!

is it needed to use car jack or bike stand to lube the bike chain alone?

You can use a car jack to help the task of lubing your chain much easier... But not required also... Just spray and push bike also can.... If you are really lazy like me, get scottoiler and you can forget about lubing your chain.... :cheeky: Also helps to keep the chain clean...

Also many ppl lube their chain wrongly... They just spray on the rollers and that's it... Actually the rollers require very little lube.... The part where the O-Ring/X-Ring is the place you need to spray... Also spray at the inner part of the chain and not the outer part as when you ride the bike the centrifugal force will push the lube to the outer part as well...

Wow bro Kaznad, u r a wonder boy man......noes every things...

Actually I think I know very little things.... just sharing what I know only...

If I'm not wrong, CDI is the one responsible for the firing order of the spark plugs, for NC29 the order is 1-2-4-3 so if the CDI is faulty the timing may not be correct so that can cause the idling rate to be unstable as well?

EDIT: But then It's quite rare that CDI spoil lah, so I would wait and check for everything else before I change the CDI... Bikeshops want to earn your money, sure they will ask you to change this and that without properly checking.... I remember reading a list of things to check for pertaining to idling rate.... I'll post it once I find it...

icic... hmmm... but is there any way to stop the gluey stuff frm flowing? been riding for almost 2 yrs on tis bike nva encountered tis situation b4 thou... anyway can i ask... is there any aftermarket cdi or something?? like hrc etc??

its been so long...

Seems to be like electrical problem... But since you said you just collected your bike might just be a weak battery... Bikeshop maybe never start the bike for ages...

Have you got a voltmeter on your bike? If not highly recommend you to get one, as I find CBR is notorious for electrical problem... You can monitor the battery and take action when you see the voltage is starting to drop....

As for the headlight I would suggest you off your headlight every time before you start your bike... Reason being CBR is meant for 60/25W halogen bulbs, but in singapore you cannot find such bulb, Sg only have 60/55W I think... that is an additional of 30W per bulb, 60W in total for two bulbs... One way is to use only one bulb, the other way is to order 60/25W bulbs online... This is also the reason why most CBR headlight switch assembly spoils very easily...

Word of caution, if you bring in to shop 90% of the time they will say coil spoil... And that is after they "test" your bike... which they will start the bike and rev abit and connect their volt meter to your battery and see the voltage...:giddy:

Proper way to test is to test the stator coil resistance... Should be 0.1 to 0.5 ohms... and do a continuity test with all three stator coil wires... there should be no continuity between the three wires... If there is continuity doesn't mean coil spoil also, just that the three wires are shorted... Re-doing the wire will help...

Maybe you can just get some insulation tape and seal the CDI with it? For Sg road I think really dun require any aftermarket CDI... Stock is already good enough... I had found a website selling coil and CDI cheaper then Sg, I posted in this thread years ago... Dunno where it went lioz... :cheeky:

First thing is you go to a Bikeshop and ask them to charge your battery... Normally takes about an hour for a quick charge...

After charging your bike should be ok... If you dun have volt meter get it installed also... and monitor the voltage of your battery... if it's dropping then you have some other electrical problems lioz... :pity:

EDIT: Normally bikeshop will not charge your battery for you just like that... Just tell them you went overseas and never start your bike for very long.... That normally does the trick... :cheeky:

Look at the Honda Part number to tell the difference.

CBR 400 L and N Model = 30410-MV4-000

CBR 400 R Model = 30410-MV4-781

Someone correct me if I'm wrong but I think you should be able to use both the CDI... Only difference would be R model CDI would have the 180km speed restriction, which you can just remove easily with a small mod...

Also ebay there are China Made CDI for S$95 including shipping... maybe you can be the guinea pig and try and let us know? :cheeky:

Sorry if I mislead you... Scottoiler will keep a CLEAN chain clean... If your chain is already dirty then sure it will not clean your chain for you... But of coz you will need to clean your chain once in a long time to further increase the life span of your chain...

check the path where the petrol store to the carb for leaks..

see for cracked hoses and the connector at the carb to distribute the petrol to all 4 ports..

Most probably the Fuel Tube, part number 8, has a cut or hole in it... The other possibility is part number 7, the fuel tap... Where exactly do you see the fuel dripping from?

Check your side stand is up when you want to start in first gear clutched in...

Hi bro Aalex82, still remember me? :cheeky: Changed to CBR1000 ah? Nice... what happen to your 929.. :cheeky:
