Hi danielling1981, I'm very happy to say that since last week we now do comprehensive, third party fire and theft and third party only insurance for motorcycles.

jus a suggestion ,maybe direct asia should have a bundle discount for potential customers, as i am sure most have at least 2 or more bikes.

this will help attract more customers should they insured more then 2 vehicles under directasia

but being in singapore. its very rare to see coy that stand out. most will only go with the flow.

 

if ur idea were to happen, surely there will be a influx of customers. im one of them

Hi well we wont noe until there is a claim isnt it? But they did go e extra mile this year by adjusting my policy. I bought my insurance 4 days before my bday and just so happen was from 30 to 31 thus a difference of $100.

 

At first cant change. Then i call up to discuss. they finally allow me to cancel a register a new policy to enjoy e new price. but in e end they decide to internally adjust e policy for me.

I think company stand out? Got. Just check out singtel now. then all other company will follow suit.

 

Also petrol companies. 1 company up price e rest follow.

 

And public transport fare price. smrt up then sbs follow then tibs then taxis company 1 by 1. ^^

Think for those with relative low premium will had tons of clauses here and there to cover them, limited reporting centre etc. If is only like TPT kind of insurance, just go for major insurance as the cost saving is not very much( mine was ard 60 dollars) but with more reporting center. If going for comprehensive then is a difference story as got more "meat" for the insurance policy so likely got better saving, BTW there are always these insurance broker companies that source for the insurance policy for you that source out the various insurance company.

Yuh i am doing my insurance through agent. No effort on my own part except this year e special adjustment. Now thinking of whether to get 1st pt. 930 as compared to 610

Hi All

 

This is my first post. Just going to purchase a Phantom 200 (Apr 2002) this week. I have 13 years riding experience in my country and just got converted to 2B here last month.

 

I compared quotes from many providers and inclined to go with DirectAsia as they are giving fire+theft too which NTUC declines (as the bike is more than 10 years old)

 

My questions :

 

1. If nobody is ready to insure a 10 year old bike what happens if such bikes are stolen ? Do you get at least the remaining CoE money back ?

2. In Singapore, what is the theft risk ? (I also plan to goto Malaysia sometimes)

3. I have checked with NTUC,(ANDA is providing for Chartis and AXA nowadays),DirectAsia. Any other obvious ones I have missed ?

Directasia seems to have the most competitive price.

 

For cases of theft, insurers pay out based on what they think is the market value and you need to beware of the excess you need to pay which can be $300-600 before you can claim theft. If the bike is really old and cheaply replaceable then ask yourself if you think it is worth it to pay the excess.

 

For really old and cheap bike I personally won't bother, just get third party will do.

Any idea how to handle those online insurance? I wonder if their online application form for bike will ask if you bike is modified or not.

 

If yes, what is their definition of modification? If declare wrongly, later kenna deny claim!
