Anyone using the 4Kam system?:

http://www.4kam.com/

Very small package but the addition of a DVR adds quite a fair bit to the cost and the wiring plus positioning of the DVR can be an issue.

Am thinking of sharing usage of 1 recording cum photo taking device between my car and bike but the bike systems do seem rather expensive compared to the car alternatives. Was wondering if something like this would work (customized mounting must be done):

http://www.ebay.com.sg/itm/120751462374?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649

Any feedback/idea/suggestions?

car DVR can be used on bike also...

but needs to take note of issues like waterproofing/splashes,vibration,mounting etc...

The Crocolis Extreme Cam looks promising for a dual purpose bike/car use. Thanks for the links! Will read up more on this :)

I think the price is quite decent for a camera with LCD screen. But there seems to have two model. Look around the YouTube for the quality, and they look good.

Life is good.

Even with anti-fog insert?

Meantime, I am conceptualising how to rid the fog thingy ...

Hmm ... interesting dev. Must know more and particularly to hear from user experience reviews. We need choices, eh?

nope...

not using the anti-fog insert yet...

using anti-fog spray...

the thing about the spray is after you spray on have to wait for it to dry up on its own(after cleaning off the excess) so that you will have a thin layer of oil on the casing to prevent fogging...

but i think in singapore it will work till a certain extend only...

will post up videos riding in the night with the skeleton casing and with the inserts(getting them later tonight at novena sq,also $25) with the waterproof housing...

anyway other places selling also the anti-fog inserts...

$25 from a few places i asked...

i was at fook hai building getting nikwax spray for my riding boots when i went past a RC model shop and saw them selling gopro stuff...

went in to enquire and the owner told me they tried anti-fog spray and it does not really work in singapore weather...

btw can you up your font size?

a bit small...:cheeky:

if you really want to have a cam...

can get those small key chain cams 1st...

some cons is not waterproof, battery life quite short, have to trial an error to fix correct position...

This was my original intention of tying handphones to handlebars on several of my friends' bikes - on little budget that's the easiest way to create a "insurance" camera mount. As years go by it got easier and easier to obtain HD cameras and mountings at low cost - try to go for a streamlined solution like @Resilience did as improvised mounts can be frustrating to make and use.

Or if you wear a fullface helmet, then an improvised helmet mount can save a lot of time and trouble - the one I have is an improved version of the setup that a famous youtube motorcycle vlogger uses in Taiwan.

Haven't been posting much due to work and other stuff but finally got to do an ambitious road riding training session with the crew last Friday

[video=youtube;7m-4r-OM-6Q]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7m-4r-OM-6Q

Bug - due to software issue the subtitles in the middle of the video appear about 10 seconds too soon.

As for HD vs non HD Camera..... all depends on battery life vs recording time vs storage media vs your video editing experience.

Decent smartphone cameras (more recent phones) can capture number plates on the move. Older HPs can record motion of vehicles only.. which is actually sufficient evidence provided you have paperwork to back the video up legally.

GoPro HD cameras capture video at 60 frames per second, which is actually overkill for recording incidents at relatively low street-legal driving speeds in Singapore. It eats memory fast. And I typically reduce it down to 30fps before uploading, otherwise it's too darn huge a filesize.

yesterday saw a car on KJE towards tuas change lane without signalling causing the rider behind to jam brake...

the rider was damn pissed but the driver did not give a hoot and continue to drive recklessly...

was not riding cause sprained my ankle and did not record it down...

tested the gopro anti-fog inserts on the road...

sad to say there is still fogging...

but much much less...

guess it comes down to singapore's climate...

going to try with 3 inserts and see if it works...

here is the video of the difference with and without the inserts

I like what I see .... when you turn your head to see, you capture in video what you see ... Can't do it with bike mounted cam. Care to post some pics of your mount?

I am selling of my gopro hd hero1, as getting the hero2.

Anyone interested can visit http://www.singaporebikes.com/forums...ERO-Motorsport

Thanks.

Your price is really attractive .... for grabs...

Thank you. bro.... Interesting ... When you video, was it raining? Was it early in the morning? Your cam was in the waterproof housing?

Did you get to buy the anti-fog inserts in which shop? I asked (for you) the Excelsior Shopping Center shop but they said that they will have it in 2 weeks time.

my dad bought for me at cathay photo at peninsula plaza...

it was not raining...

just normal ride in waterproof housing...

but from the video you can see the big difference in with and without the inserts...

with the inserts can see the much reduced fogging...

i guess it might be our climate that is the cause...

i tried today with 4 inserts and there is still slight fogging...

next will try out something...

going to bake it 1st before using to try out...
