Thanks Daniel for the updates. At your settings, roughly how much can it record on an 8GB card (in terms of time)?

@f50. I using just cls4. Think for our purpose no need e high end?

@crank. Erm, roughly 1min is more than 1gb. Roughly 15min came to about 1.7gb. But take note tat if auto loop is on, they will delete e older files. So they may just decide to delete ur 1st 15min file just to store a new 1min file. :/

Here's something else I came across - video recording built into sunglasses! http://pivothead.com/

They look great and the video quality is pretty impressive too. Initial cons that I can think of would be:

- PRICE!!!

- narrow field of view (75 deg)

- how to use at night? They do have a photochromic option (like Transitions lens)

Other than that, it actually looks really awesome :thumb: They even have a 720p 60fps mode! I couldn't figure out the recording time though.

There's another one : http://www.zioneyez.com/

But they seem to be newer and not sure if they have their product together yet.

Sad to say likely wont fit when u wear helmet unless u mod ur cushion. If u read e earlier post, 1 rider used this type and he cut his cushion to accommodate e fat frame. Basically i wear shades when riding and e frame i use is thin metal type. These oaklay type fat frames will not fit my full face. Likely open face helmet also cannot becoz e cushion is suppose to be fitting to ir face. Imagine a thick frame.

If u like, check out dealextreme or ebay. There r these glasses for 20+.

Thanks, I'll check out those sources as well. I do currently wear Oakleys while riding and they fit fine... but it could be my helmet is a bit wide for me anyway.

Safety issue there. ^^
Agreed. Get a proper fitting helmet. On a sidenote if the specs does not have the legs and uses a strap instead as you would with goggles then it would work.

Yeah, it's something I'm looking into now, as I look to replace my helmet. Turns out my helmet shape is too "round" for my head shape, but I've seen some models which seem narrower so let's see how those work for me :)

For quality i using default settings. H and 720p 60fps. Not sure about e HD but i think is yes.

Maybe you should drop the frame rate to 30 instead. Try compare your video on the computer to the YouTube video, since YouTube only can support 30 fps and will reduce files to such. If difference not much, then it would be more efficient to use 30 fps, shouldn't eat as much memory as 60 fps.

Is ok. I'll just continue to use fps 60 since i ve a 32GB now. Even if YT reduces to 30 FPS, at least i ve the better quality version if necessary. It is better to overprepare than underprepare. =D

Just showing a video recorded while using handlebar mount. Maybe it's my bike but i find the vision very limited from the handlbar. The camera is able to see beyond the left and right of my windshield but still i find it felt sort of truncated as compared to when i use helmet mount. My windshield is double bubble, will try again when dark to c how the quality is affected with windshield double bubble.

danielling1981,

Is it possible to mount the RD32ii upside down and toggle some setting to correct the inverted recording accordingly?

the auto loop can set to 1 or 2 mins instead of the 15 mins block so that it will auto delete the 1st 1 or 2 mins of the video instead of 15 mins

the vid is quite stable, at least the cam doesnt jerk that much due to the vibration.

just curious, i mount the cam on top of the black piece as shown in the pic that u posted previously and the whole thing will be mounted on top of my helmet, will rotating stem be quite flimsy when encountered wind blast?

@none. Well not too sure about tat. But u can use video editing software to invert it. :)

@xueling. Actually u misunderstand e function. E 1min, 2min or 15min is how much u wan to break up ur video. So i choose 15min means each file will record max 15min before opening a new file. Then when auto loop is on, it will delete e oldest file. E next part is my assumption, e firmware will ensure tat there is around 1.7gb space becoz my settings is 15min becoz 1in video of my quality roughly 1.7Gb.

Yes e handlebar mount quite secure. It also comes with e rubber peces to make it even more stable. Sadly e handlebar mounting i believe is built for bicycle or smaller handlebars. For my, it dossnt fully close up. But it is still secure.

Base on e pic, near e btm is something like a screw cap. Basically u use tat to lock e pivot thing firmly. So no, e pivot can be firm. Instead i think e worry is on e flat part which is sticked to ur helmet. I strongly suggest u consider a safety before going into action. If really drop dun think can save.

ah.. icic. saw the vid by techmoan with regards to the video looping and i tot u can choose to delete 1 min, 2 mins or 15 mins of the recording. thanks for the clarification

do u think the 3m dual lock or some strong tape can secure the flat part which is sticked to the helmet?

E issue here is e flat part is small. Smaller than e camera body and e camera has some weight around 90+ grams. My worry is tat overtime, e sticky wont e able to support e constant "pulling" of e camera body.

I do ve 2 suggestion.

1) take e pivot piece and at e part where u connect e pivot to e camera, break it apart. This way, u will ve a flat surface close to e camera so as to improve aerodymanics and therefore reducing e "pulling" effect. Not sure how u can break e pivot thing though.

2) use a very big piece of sticky. Bigger than e flat part. Maybe even bigger than e camera body. But this does not change e fact tat e sticky directly on e flat part is still very small. This is through experience where if u just use e same size of sticky for ur camera pr e support, e holding power is weaker. Pretty sure there is a scientific formula for this.

Oh yeah, it's an option too, thanks!

I think the keyword to look for is techmoan rd32ii :)

after watching the video review on the xdreme cam by techmoan, i feel like getting it instead of the rd32ii.. feels more stable if i were to mount on top of my helmet. the pricing is abt the same as rd32ii with the additional accessories pack

xdreme cam - USD 134.99

rd32ii black + accessories pack - USD 123.40 + USD 15.90 = USD 139.30

rd32ii yellow + accessories pack - USD 118.70 + USD 15.90 = USD 134.60

i have just found out that there is a newer version of rd32ii cam (called rd32ii gen 2) on chinavasion and the price is USD 126.06. according to the website, it is only available in black and comes tgt with the additional accessories pack as shown in the pictures provided. although it states that the package includes the bicycle handlebar mount, but the pictures shows the handlebar mount tgt with the rest of the additional accessories pack sold separately on dealextreme.

specs wise got no difference. i think the only difference between version 1 and 2 is that the package comes with the additional accessories pack (excluding the rubber straps).

here is the website on chinavasion for rd32ii gen 2
