Sitting on bike is safer. But provided you find a slope! Good luck.

1 thing to share. I tried to push my bike b4, lost balance and bike fall on the right side, broke my mirror - $22 gone as LAB selling 1 pair @ 22 bucks.

That's what I was afraid of! tipping over on the right side!

Anyways, for me I only lock the handle bar when I park. When park overnight, I'll cover it up with a full cover. So far the only thing that was stolen on the bike was my cash card which I forgot to remove after parking.. Ever since, I tied a rubber band around my wrist to remind myself..

If you got "my kind" of Phantom and see lots of young Malay gentlemen staring at her every time you park on the roadside, at least use a bike cover. Also, I don't park illegally anymore as I don't want my hard work and $$ to be touched at all. Better safe than sorry.

Bike cover will also protect your TA from rain (preventing corrosion). Takes less than 30 sec to put up the tent once you're used to the bike's geometry.

For disc lock - my late father advocated against such devices as if rider forgets to remove the lock before riding...bang.

Wanna ask your got put disc lock when you park your bikes? Would people steal phantoms that are say 4-5 yrs old?

I considering of putting one but think it is very troublesome.

After riding 1 year + on my phantom, i still cant run with my bike.. so push start = sit on bike and use my legs to run... safe then sorry. Don't wanna drop my lovely bike ;-)

I went overseas last month so I decided to put bike cover to protect my phantom. When I came back, first thing was to go find my bike. When I approached the carpark I got a shock of my life, I couldn't see a single bike with bike cover! Siao liao, I quickly ran to the area I parked my bike. I was super relieved to see my bike still sitting there, though covered in dust and without a bike cover.

I was thinking 2 things at that moment:

'Heng ah, my phantom never kana stolen' =)

'WTH! bike cover also want to kope... cheapo...'

I'm not buying another bike cover, sure kana kope again. You guys never kana koped before??

Hi guys, i just purchase my ta200 today, i notice some rust on some of the chrome parts, anyone care to share with me where to buy those parts and some addiational accessories thanks

Welcome Adam; I am also a new Phantom rider.

Had the same observation as you and the workshop offered to recondition the metal parts for a fee. They came back with brand-new chrome finish after waiting 3 weeks.

To "buy" parts we have to either get original Honda, or replace with aftermarket, which can get expensive fast.

I'd rather try to DIY rust removal if minor. Turtle Wax chrome polish + rust remover works for thin layers of rust. Some patience with sandpaper pays off well over time. Serious rusting to the point of mechanicial failure (say, on suspension parts) warrants replacement but if it's on a noncritical component like footrests I can overlook and go for aftermarket replacement in future.

Threads that can help you are:

How to cosmetically modify the Phantom

But I suggest getting to know the bike better first to get a better idea of what actually needs improving besides the cosmetics.

I doubt that your machine was in as bad a state as mine, which was in pieces and required almost total respray and reconditioning. :)

Hi Adam, welcome! I agree with Kalyan except the sand paper part as lots of patience and Chrome Polish will surfice. Yes, sand paper will remove rusts and it will remove the Chrome too. So becareful where you use the sand paper on, k? Cheers!

Nope, I came back from my holidays and both occasions my cover was intact. I wanted to spray my number on the cover, but was too lazy lah! Remember to spray both inside and out hor, otherwise they can just flip over and use it.

Welcome Adam

For minor rust removal I use scotch bright which has been in use in the home for some time and is on the verge of being thrown away, new scotchbrite is too harsh. Use lightly with polish.

Additional parts for your bike, for your safety in the event of a low speed spill, crash bars, if you stay on the bike as you go over it they will save your legs, they also help to reduce damage to the bike too.

Replace the foot pegs with foosteps, on a long ride they allow you to stretch your legs and change positions frequently. Both of these items aren't expensive and are great features.

Happy and safe trails
