BrakeDisc Problem HeLp!

Recently i jus got to found out tat my rear brake pad had realli worn out and it sumhow make lines on my brake disc.. When i place my finger to feel the surface of the disc... Can feel the uneven lines... It's only i realise my rear brake pads had worn out when the mech at auntie shop told me soo... Dunnoe how long hav i been braking without pads... But braking stil works as normal before the brake pads change...

 

When the mech unscrewing the brake caliper to take the brake pad out, one of the screw is like stuck and the reason the mech gave is cause it's hot tat's why stuck. AND HE USED A SCREW DRIVER AND HAMMER AND HAMMERED THE SCREW so he could unbolt it...

 

The brake pads tat he gave me was SBS... Wen i left the shop braking was good but GOT squeeking LOUD SOUND wen soft braking after a while wen reaching my home. The sound goes on fer 3 daes wen riding... after the three daes i ask my frens and they suggest me to clean my brake disc..i wipe it clean wif water and sumHow the noise is less and less and NOmoRE!!! BUt now i feel very clear vibrations when braking hard...

 

i fear my brake disc is dented because of the hammering... ask ppl around mie whether to change the brake disc... they all said still can use... the experience of new brake pads is like tat they said... wiSH to hav y'all opinion on tis matter... WhAt do i do... What to expect next????

First, determine if the brake disc) is warped. Lift your rear wheel up and spin to see if the rotor is flat. If certain portions of the disc touches the pads as it spins, then the disc is warped. Replace it.

 

If the disc is not warped, and according to you that the disc has uneven lines, this is know as scoring.

 

The disc can be skimmed to even out the surface. However, skimming reduces the thickness of the disc, and it could be dangerous if the disc is over-skimmed.

 

Run your thumb, and index finger on the edge of the disc (as if you are picking it up), your fingers should slide out without feeling the edge. If you can feel it, that means the braking surface has worn out. Time to replace.

 

Take it from me, whichever mechanic you went to, stay away from him. Knowing that the condition of your disc, he still went on to replace the pads, to me that's unprofessional.

i'm sOOoO fed up wen i found out wat's the caused of my whOoOLE 6 daes of braking experience...

 

1st-the braking noise when light braking

2nd-no noise ady, then the little2 vibration wen braking

3rd-got noise wen jus pushing reversing the bike while sittin

4th-feel really obvious vibration wen pillion my fren, braking not really effective

5th-no brake oso like got little braking feel like tat...

6th-cannot rear brake as brake pedal really vibrate vigourously...

 

got to noe wen i touch the brake caliper 1 of the screw was mIsssIN!!!! soO stress wen i found it out around near midnite... and wen the 6th happened it realli made me into a near accident at a junction!!!! i ride slowly to 1 of the shops at defu lane and ask for help and i get the screw free! the light, hard, even e-brake also i tried out around there... braking soOoo smooth ya! wuhu!!! :gun:bUt stiLL cannot accept it tat it caused me tat near accident liao...

well. nicky hayden uses his rear veri often..... depends on rider...

 

on my cbr i dont use rear at all, but for my wave i use rear alot... so on my wave i feel like nicky hayden..

 

 

btw... i think maxima has some electrical/brake disc cleaning spray that cleans the rotars, getting rid of brake dust... its blue in colour.... i use it to clean my rotars and the amt of brake dust it absorbs, quite a substantial amt....

because using rear brakes as well as front provide more stopping power and more stable than using front alone?
