Guess if I'm going to buy a race suit, I might as well get a good one with the hump.

Nowadays, even low end suit also has hump....like my X Strom. Will be going SF this Mid Nov for a couple of weeks.......visiting my in laws. Maybe can check out some bike shops and look see look see......dunno can get a good deal like your AC 11 or not. :cheeky:

When buying a suite go for a good brand, the reasons being the quality in construction can only be seen after a fall, you will be able to fetch a better resale price.

Bigger brands tend to spend more bucks in their R&D in the area of safety, and the consumer tends to benifit more from buying such brands, the problem with us is cost.

How do we get around it? What i did was buy a branded suite second hand,a good(no falls) second hand suite will cost the same as a new no name suite. My alpinestar secondhand suite lasted me for 2 years and sold it for 75% of the price i paid.

Bearing in mind the primary function of a race suite is as a safety apparel not a fashion statement, get a good one like Dainese, alpinestar, spike or if on a buget the best value for money brand Clover.

Safe riding all.

speaking from first hand crash experience at pasir gudang, my suit saved me a lot. my helmet front is badly scratched... gotto be thrown away. my boots did a good job protecting my legs. if budget is a concern, i would prefer to buy second hand branded suits than new unbrand suits becos the material, critical area of protection plus stitching. i was wearing a five year old fieldsheer, shoei n sidi boots.

its better to have humps on the suits as i low sided several times in the past and had my head slammed on the ground backwards. i believe the hump will help absorb some of this impact. my next suit will ideally have a hump, if i can afford it.

where to get cheap full race suit?

How much is cheap?

Where is the Place or address?

Cheap? Go online. After shipping, it might still meet your budget.

http://www.newenough.com - good deals on leathers, especially Joe Rocket

http://www.azmotorsports.com - check the closeout deals

http://www.mawonline.com - cheap in general

http://www.metricbikes.com - great deals on AGV Sport leathers

http://www.ebay.com - needs no explanation

However, if you looking for a good suit, then I suggest you raise your budget to about $700-$800. There is numerous people selling Fieldsheer Falcon-5 suits on eBay for about USD450.

Leathers are meant to save your skin during the worst high speed crashes on track. Please think about that, and don't just go for the cheapest one. You don't need very branded stuff like Alpinestar or Dainese, but at least get something decent.

Anyone knows where I can still get Spyke suits? Motoworld used to carry them but have stopped since. They only have Sidi now.

Tried searching off the web but can't seem to find any around :(

in terms of verntilation, is full perforation suit better or a number of air vents on the suit better?

Full perforation is definitely much better. However in either case, you have to be moving to feel the cooling effect. If you are at a stop, you'll sweat like nobody's business.

Remember to wear an inner liner to make taking out your suit easier. Sweat makes the leather stick to your skin and makes the suit a pain in the ass to take out.

I respect your choice, but personally I find Spidi overpriced. Try to get Arlen Ness / Berik / MotoGP (they're one brand). I think they go for much less, and the MotoGP version is perforated. It is what Tamada wears to MotoGP.

A good suit can last you years and countless track sessions if you take care of it. I think the trouble is worth it.

Personally I searched in stores, catalogues and online for months to find a good-looking and good quality men's 1-piece suit small enough to fit me. (Eventually I got a Joe Rocket Speedmaster in black and size 38.) Here is a pic:

You can try agvsport, so far it's the most affordable good brand i can find around. Locally, you can try stuffs like Komine.
