Guys, I just got a reconditioned 10yr old Spec 2. Just into my first tank of RON98 and the reserve light just started running as I was turning into my workplace carpark this morning. My trip show 186km. This is not normal right? I know when running in the FC is totally unreliable. But to get 12-13km/L FC is crazy right?

Have been riding below 6k RPM thus vtec hardly open. Just once when I was overtaking on the Expressway. Thus can't be because I'm riding like a madman.

I have a full Yoshi system installed with K&N drop in filter. idle RPM is around 1.2~1.5k.

Any comments?

don't just depend on the low fuel gauge. go top up and see how much is actually used. sometimes it's the fuel level float that is faulty.

I topped up 14.5 liter. mileage was 215km. I suspect it's a carb issue. only the carbs were reconditioned, the rest of engine is brand new because had to register new engine with LTA.

New engine? How did u get a new engine?

Basically I bought a scrap bike that Coe was going to expire, renewed the Coe and rebuilt the entire bike. only front shocks, carbs and gearbox and frame was salvageable.everything else had to be replaced. figures gonna keep the bike for at least another 5-6 years, thus bought new engine block, pistons etc. as the new engine serial does not match the log card record that LTA has, I had to re register the new serial with LTA.

Bro krocozkid,

usuallly its the speedo, not tacho is the one that's inaccurate, especially if you use chiong parts. (personal experience)

Having said that,

the meter cluster is made up of 10 or so parts, which can be replaced individually.

however, it is best to use original for the internal meter components for speedo and tacho.

can get them at FJT.

Just my humble $0.02

wow.. it's 14.8km/l that's really quite bad. you probably should check if all parts are lubricated if you really did a rework on the whole bike. sometimes just the lubrication will reduce friction and decrease petrol consumption. regarding the suspected carb issue i'm not really sure. personally i have scottoiler and using aluminium alloy sprocket on spec3(6 yrs old bike) and i get 26-28km/l

I'll check back once I top up my next tank. For all you know it could be a speedo error that gives me a wrong trip reading. May have actually gone more than the 215km. Will need to keep monitoring and hope that after the break in period my FC will improve.

the rpm meter bro. cause comparing to my friends spec 3, idling set to be abt 1.4k, yet mine shows 0. thanks!

you could try using ur a jog tracker on your phone and start it before you leave your house to another location to confirm if the mileage is roughly the same.

i tried this on my bike 2 weeks ago cauz i'm starting to wonder why i am able to get 28km/l when other spec3 usually 24-26 i thought maybe my trip meter is wrong. but surprisingly the mileage difference is less than 1km after riding for 20km distance.

Hi guys,

Can anyone advice where I can check if I can repair my spec 2 speedometer (km/h is not working)? Or where can I get a 2nd hand speedometer? Thanks.

You can go to Bikeworkz. I went there to check mine.

Cheers!

Hi All,

Is there such thing as conversion kit from normal CB400 to Super Bol'Dor (i.e. adding the extra unit in the tank and windshield)?

Doesn't matter is Honda or aftermarket.

And would it be street legal?

Thanks

The previous owner of my bike did the following on 22/03/2013, but my voltmeter is showing 11.8-12.0v when my bike is started up. My headlight seems to dim down when I on the hazard lights. Is there anything wrong with it?

1. Nitro Battery

2. Rectifier

3. Magneto coil with clutch cover gasket

4. Magneto coil

5. Clutch cover gasket

I don't know. Will be doing some grounding with a Mega Raizin soon. If it still don't get better then will get it check again ba. Sometimes the voltmeter shows 12.8-13.0v lol. Wonder if the shop got cover warranty for battery, coz it's quite a reputable shop in SG.
