If i am not wrong is the same. The use of coolant is to allow the transfer of heat from your engine to the radiator. Heard before water is being use as a medium for this transfer? Why lot of people dun like to use water? becos of its boiling point... check it out yourself. i lazy to write liao... there is a topic in this forum.

go check it out.. is inside this forum. use search for a better idea. i dun like to say much. There are many kind of coolant available in the market. There are premix one and non premix one. Pre mix that mean you dun need to add any other liquid and non premix one that mean you have to add in other liquid like water or distill water....etc.

dun ask anymore use search as there is already a good explaining by il4

according to my mechanic if the light is up u have to becareful..i just change..its better to ask the shop to flush it down roughly about $20/-

i think if ur bike already 4-5yrs then add water la...

u open ur ride sidebox cover n c if the coolent is btwn the lower n upper then okay...if it goes to lower then becareful....

i changed it recently and the engine less hot la compared to 1st time

Change once a year.

Cos like EO , coolant do lost its cooling and lubricating properties over time.

coolent level will drop after a coolent change but i dun think the whole reserve will be empty......

if there are sign of coolent in your cylinder means either your gasket leaking or your cylinder wall crack as coolent run isolated around your engine and will never b in your cylinder...

if coolent leaks into your cylinder it should also be in contact with your engine oil.... your engine oil will turn whitish or light brown if there is a leak.... this will degrade the engine and will damage your engine.....

if its gasket leak, jus change it and problem solve but if its cylinder wall crack, then there will be alot of $$$$ involve...... :giddy:

hope this helps.....

All information is provided here with good intentions and to the best of my knowledge and is not liable for any negative effects that might occur due to this information. Thank You.

First thing to do is to check your engine oil window located at lower right side of the bike. if its whitish in colour confirm coolent mixed with engine oil..

For coolent, did your mech top up at the main radiator by revving and letting the engine idle(the coolent will flow in)? If not, go back to motorshop and complain. if you can DIY better.. but take note not to open the radiator cap when engine hot. Also top up the spare coolent to the correct level. Check the level again after some distance.. Attend to your coolent asap..

Hope this helps..

mine also like tat recently...

my mech told me my gasket leaking...

abt $700+ to repair, if block damage will cost abt $1000+

then i topped up the coolant, kept on checking for level drop everyday, then only recently, check few days one time...

seems ok liao...

hi.... i got some questions about the coolant system of S4....

1. where is the drain plug for the coolant???

2. the coolant sold on market.... do we need to mix with distilled water or can just use straight frm the shelf????

Posted

I usually just remove the hose thats on the left side of the engine right next to the starter cover. After all the coolant has drained, i reinstall the hose, refill the radiator located under the gas tank with water. Then run the engine till its hot, shut off the engine, again drain the water through the hose, re-install again when done, then fill with half coolant, half distilled water. Fastest way for me....:thumb:
