not sure what your question is actually...but here's what i think. i'm new to biking though so take it for what it is.

for new bike, the shop will handle all your paperwork. so i'm guessing you're talking about used bikes.

for used bikes, basically 2 simple steps that you must do after settling the price and payment.

1. buy insurance - just call ntuc, have the bike plate number ready, when you want to start the insurance, and they'll give you a quote. tell them which branch you wanna collect from...then go collect it the next day.

2. transfer ownership - go to lta, 2nd floor. fill up form (both you and seller need to fill). bring ic (both you and seller need to bring). then wait for your turn at counter. pay transfer fee. collect log sheet.

that's really all the paperwork there is. the lta counter will let you know if there are other things you need to pay for like road tax etc.

now to models. i've tried a few when i was looking around: yamaha tw200, suzuki dr200 and honda xr200. all are 200cc air-cooled 4-stroke bikes. pricing will vary depending on age, mods and condition. check garage sale to get an idea. pm people who bought bikes if you want to get better idea.

i bought a tw200 in the end. love it! its easy to ride. seat is comfortable for me. big wheels means lots of traction on road...very stable even at low low speeds. only problem is it can't go past 60-70kph comfortably. it will vibrate like crazy. i think dr200 is probably best for higher speeds...or change your rear sprockets.

when i was looking, i was quoted $8300 otr for a brand new dr200 at the shop. the rest were all used so i won't reveal pricing here.

i think the biggest difference you will encounter from the gilera is wind! you'll get lots of exposure to the wind because there is no fairing or anything. it is completely open to the elements. but the sensation is first class and i sure love it.

all the best for your search! enjoy!!!
