if u apply general grease, the grease will harden after contact wif water..

and the grease will attract all kinds of debris that will wear yr seals if u using o/x rings chain.

:)

yes. abit of debris, dirt. Normal la with wax. Was thinking if using eo will be quiter and cleaner and easier to clean.

i made the switch from using spray can chain lube to EO for chain lubing.

so far so good in terms of chain lifespan.

however, do note the need for greater frequency for lubing chain + possible accumulation of oil on components located along the path of the chain.

for me, it is the front sprocket cover, parts of the swingarm, gear lever mechanism (i.e. the joints, metal rod, etc) & side stand. this is partially contributed to the over-doing of lubing that i sometimes do.

:cheeky:

so from the angle of ease in cleaning,

for the fling offs onto the rims, yes i agree.

but for those hard to reach spots like parts of swingarm or gear lever mechanism, then no, cleaning is more difficult.

Personnally i've tried using Maxima before, its good. but its not as economical as compaired to Rj chain lube.

RJ chain lube Oils and dries up and it doesnt attract as much dirt as compaired to maxima.

Ticket to love

used EO is better. tend not to fling as much as new EO.

as it's generally thicker.

yup. maxima chain guard.

i think GP1 is ok as well. main concern is to keep the chain well lube but not over excess as to fling everywhere.

in that way, you see your chain being with you for a jolly longer time.

check out the previous few pages.

it shows the points you need to lube. is to lube the 'O' or 'X' ring, and not the other parts.

based on one day 60km, mine can only last 1.5 year. I can't adjust anymore as the brake will jam if I adjust toward the maximum point. Time to replace again.:(

Yes, back drum brake. Ya may be can remove and reposition the level. Why the shop never advise me, every time he pull the chain on the sprocket ( a bit loose) and show me that you have to change both items.

Mine, 100,000km and counting. DID 530 on a VFR800.

I use 80~90wt gear oil; lubing whenever the chain roller starts to shine, or after washing or riding through the rain. I check on every fuel top up. Clean it whenever it gets mucky.
