Use a rough file to file 2 sides of the screw head flat, then twist it off with a spanner. Or you could use a mole wrench to grip it and turn - don't use pliers as you may round it even further.

place screwdriver onto the X head. use a hammer to knock the screwdriver into the screw head forcefully, so screwdriver tip go into screw head thread. keep knocking until u can turn screwhead normally .

If you want a more proper way..Use easy out..Google it..:thumb:

One other way I did before was to drill it out..But you will need really steady hands tho..Otherwise try the filin method..

yah really hate it!

what i did was to use a handsaw and make it into a flathead. then use a flathead screwdriver and plier to unscrew it. manage to get it out in an hour or so. lol.

if it still doesnt come out..

weld an old allen key or a small piece of metal bar to it to turn it out. Sounds a little extreme but worked well for my buddy's bicycle, as we spent the entire night trying to make a thread by knocking and knocking but its tightness persist.

HAHAHA

There's no correct or wrong way..Just whether its a practical method or not..

the proper tools ...is the impact screw driver..

other methods will destroy the screw..

there is always a correct method...practical method may cause more damages in the end eg what if the screw head snapped off?? turn into pulp with the practical method..

in everything there is a correct way and many desperate and silly ways..thats what technicain and trades man and engineers are trained for dude..

Never argue with an idiot. They'll bring you down to their level and beat you with experience every time:dot:

I beg to differ tho..If you want a proper method IMO usin the easy out tool is the correct method..Since the screw is already rounded what for save the screw? Jut replace it with a new screw..

Hi , there is no right or wrong to the way we extract a jammed bolt or screw .... it is how efficient , and safe in the way we used to extract them , without causing further damages to the hole, thread and even surrounding areas , using the wrong tools for the wrong methods , could pose danger to yourself as well as the surroundings .

Worst , it could cause extensive damage and higher cost .

The Schools teaches and emphasizes on safety first , proper practises and correct working approaches . Like wearing the proper gears, safety googles, shoes etc.

Many ppl wld think that it is a hassle , but when accidents happened , who will suffer ?

There are various methods to extract jammed bolts and screws :

Some of you have very good suggestions and methods too .

If the item or part with the jammed screw could be removed , the

best way is to secure them safely on a vise and set them up on a drill bench,

drill using step drills, extract the remaining part, run a tap thru the hole again , to ensure that all remaining parts are removed , if for some reasons ,

if you drill an over sized hole , then a Helicoil insert must be used .

They could be purchased off the shelf , Helicoils are hardened inserts with threadings , used to repair damaged threaded holes .

Doesnt cost a lot of $ , but a little more time .

O in case your tap is broken , or for some reasons the screw broke inside the hole , the remedy would be to drill them , but if the screw is a hardened part , then a process called EDM ( electro discharge machining ) will have to be used , it could be costly , that is why , it is important to use the right tool and adopt the right method , then you will not have to resort to this costly method ....., best if you are unsure , do not attempt it , always read up before u start :p

haaha..what if the thread is screwed up..another practical method needed to solve that..

so it goes on and on...and finally tow to workshop for repairs..?? after all the mess u have created using the so called practical way.

By the way...the impact screw driver preserve your screws....and threads.

so dudes out there..the easy way out is usually not the best way..

the proper way and correct way (with the correct tools)is the way to go..

yeah...:cheeky:

for those who feels that they can do a better job than trained personnel with all the correct tools..good luck..

I'm sorry but I have this feelin you're somehow confused between the word "easy way out" and the "easy out tool"..Google is your friend..
