hi ven, after changing the batt starting the bike is a breeze liao hahaa... hopefully all goes well and the rectifier was not faulty & overcharging my batt!

and for the add of racewerks, its blk1005 #01-24 bukit merah lane 3, 62732203. think they opened daily from 11am to 10pm.

from the lane u turned in from main rd, follow straight to the cross junction & turn rite where u'lll c albert motorshop & other bike shops. go forward abit & turn left at the junction ahead & turn rite to the side rd where ther's alot of 2nd hand bikes parked on both sides of the rd. go all the way in & it's located at the very end. got a broken signage outside the shop with alot of mitos parked outside at times when i visited there. infact the oni shop with alot of italian 125s going to. u wun missed it one... gd luck!

angelus, so far ever tried or heard whether changing the speedo cable will solve the needle jumping problem? how much for the cable? i might try it & post my results.

sgbiker, i might be changing to the street legal arrow full system in a couple of weeks time... interested to change too?

from wad i gathered, all aftermarket endcans/ header/ full systems are illegal for 2strokers, for the exception of the street legal arrow system dat was lta complianted recently. and heard it's oni available for italian 125s too.

it's pointless to play hide & seek wit tps & rovs for installing illegal pipes/ headers... if kanna caught, can say gd bye to ard $500-$600 liao plus alot of time wasted.

but after installing the street legal arrow, heard have to send to lta to be checked, photographed, & a cert was to be issued for the approval of the pipe installation. dunno how much dat gonna costs & how long. zZZ

hi there...biketech sells for 680, full arrow exhasut for cagiva planet / mito.

im thinking of getting a set too, but maybe note so soon. wanna check out if multiple orders can get discount?

jonathan: Yep that's the right address, I think. Hehe sorry I'm a bit high now, but I'm pretty sure it's the right address. The mitos there are a result of you know who! =)

hahaa... cool! was quoted $680 for the full system wit carbon/kelvar endcan... most prob is the aluminium+carbon type... sianz.... and after installing the pipe, muz send to inspection center urself for verification & pay $50+..

these few days the needle jumping was getting more & more hectic! slow speeds ard 20km/h start jumping like siao already heh... few weeks ago was like above 100km/h then start to jump abit :giddy:

btw noticed a really interesting thing on the speedo... when i rev the bike in neutral, the needle began to jump in the 20km/h region even though the bike was not moving! strange huh, considering the speedo was comunicated via the speedo cable from the front hub oni... or was it somehow was connected to the cdi too?

btw kron, race werks service not bad... but for full servicing i'll still go to minerva as heard they go by the servcing standard laid down by cagiva by qualified mechs... but for body paint work, i'll still go for race werks heheh...:cheer:

No problem! To each his own. Heh, though I feel much safer having my bike done by Norman than a grumpy fat dude (no offence to him, but that's a factual description, and not that Norman is anywhere close to a grumpy fat dude haha). I've sort of had a bad experience after servicing with them. Note: The bad experience came about 15 minutes after they did my bike and I was too busy and sort of ignored the problem, which was a big big mistake! I cannot say for sure if it was really their fault, but the thing is, if my bike was running fine all along, till they did the servicing, I would say that it isn't wrong of me to feel that it is quite likely their fault.

Well, after Minerva, the same night, I sent my bike for an overhaul because my temperatures were soaring and I had a horrible rattle, sounded like it came from clutch basket, but I'm not too sure. The overhaul was a BIG MESS as well, which left me with a pretty huge bill and pretty hugely dissatisfied. Main problems were not solved, such as strong vibrations at high revs, and got a lowdown of 1001 Excuses by Mr I-fixed-your-mito-I-rock, such as oh your gearbox is worn out. Even customer service was light years from satisfactory. I would love to post that shop's name here, but I do not wish to entangle myself in any stupid law suit. The shop is situated in Tampines Industrial Park though and my bike was done by a group of Malays (not that I have something against that, but that's what it is).

So on the whole, I've been to quite a few shops, and this one is going to be a pleasant stay! :thumb:

Hey jon, thanks for the address of Race werks.. went there last weekend and they managed to take a look at my charging probs. As suspected my magneto coil is f***ed and Minerva quoted me $525!!! But when I asked Race werks to check the price for me they came back with $600!! I didnt know workshops mark up this much?! Now im out looking for a used coil, if you guys happen to come across one pls give me a shout.

Atleast, the mechs are very friendly and can atleast understand english. In fact he even showed me how the coil looks like from one of the mitos there, a yellow one with new tyres and bodywork! Kron, this one yours?

Jon, the speedo needle jumping around like crazy means the unit is spoilt. Soon it may snap and stop working completely, exactly what happ to me. thanks to angelicus, i managed to scoop around for a planet speedo from ebay for just $100... will let you know how it goes after I get it installed. hahaha... finally can start smiling a bit :)

Posted

Hey venkat, that price they quoted you, was it with or without labour included? Because I quite doubt that their markup is that high... And the yellow one isn't mine, it belongs to a mate of mine.. Great bodywork...

hi simple plan, last time i saw a fq planet going for $2k... imho, planets are priced to the condition they are in, not like other popular thai bikes to the age & plate they are in. for instance, i bought mine 3.2k for a fs plate, 5yrs bike liao but in a pretty gd condition. nothing major worn out or breaking but the speedo gona go up lorry liao. mileage 5000km, hard to believe, but with the needle going crazy on the xpressway & since i can't believe a speedo would worn out after a mere 5000km, i doubt it lor.

maintanance wise, like wad earlier posts had said, is the same as all 2stroke bikes. and since planet is a really old bike, engine parts are likely to be worn out & it's costy to replace them, in the sense dat it's oni a 125cc bike. but if ur willing to refurbish it, it's a pretty gd ride & a eye catcher on rd heheh. looks like a mininature ducati monster to the causual eye! but most italian riders would agree in order to prolong the life of the engine parts, a gd 2t oil is prefered. motul 600 i presumed? otherwise it's big & comfortable, especially for the pillion passenger!

fuel consumption for mine is ard 19km/liter. whether i pillion or not still fall in the same range.

no prob ven! but kowz so ex for the mag coil? haiyo... erm u got try be4 changing out the speedo cable? or tried be4 liao & still dun work? anymore of the speedos available? might be getting one soon haiz... or time for a digital speedo? heheh...

Great job in finding yourself a speedo venka... update us when you've fixed it up and the cost of all the repairs that you've made at minerva... btw did you check if racewerks has any 2nd mito speedo?

Jon... if you really decide to get a digital speedo lemme know... i also wanna change...

that day i saw rongx bike at first motor... think he skidded or someone might have dropped his bike... but when i saw his bike i was like stunned... the front completely cannot recognise....

He is using a UFO head light from a scram, digital tacho, has this fuel indicator which has a needle pointing to the amount left(dunno accurate or not la, but very cool) and if i not wrong got a voltmeter as well... all the stuff looks really good but jus very messy and never arrange properly... also neutral lights and signal indicator dun have...

i had thought of doing something similar... but i dunno any mechanic that knows this much about electrical stuff... its pretty hard to customise so much...

angelus, dunno how much a new digi speedo costs lei... somemore dun have a permanent mounting :sian:

hey guys... read up in the varadero thread dat most of the riders there experienced jumping speedo needle & eractic trip distance counting... but after changing the batt to a new one, the speedo went back to normal operation! for me, after changing a new batt, the needle wasn't jumping dat badly liao, would sand the connectors to the batt & clean all contact point in a few days... would update the results

and they are mo smt called throttle rocker, http://www.throttlerocker.com, which is a simple wrap ard plastic butt on the throttle grip for u to rest ur palm on it & best part is u control the throttle by applying down pressure on it! ingenious piece of work! maybe this will call off our numb wrists from the constant vibrations? had contacted the guy whom mo the stuff & would let me noe after sept 15 if there's any uncollected items... or can order directly from the webbie @US$10! :cheer:

and yes, they are not permanently fixed to the throttle grip... from wad i c, a wrap ard velcro strap nia....

some update on my bike... went to 2nd link clear meter juz now,,, top 140km/h... open throttle till cannot go up anymore & even half clutch... same heh :sian:

considering when my meter was @100km/h when my friend's rvf was @80km/h, most prob mine top 110km/h nia? even my friend's phantom 150 2t sped past me easily  , stock bike somemore heh... sian 1/2

then even worst, on the way back to sillypore, was happily accelerating when suddenly my foot cannot feel the gear level! glanced down & to my horror the gear level was hanging down loosely! after high beaming my friend infront & signal rite to the rd shoulder, upon closer inspection, the bolt which is the pivot point of the entire gear level assembly had dropped off! along goes with a bushing too... heng got my trusty foldable allen key set, managed to wedged one of the allen key into the hole, fasten with a rubberband, still managed to head home with cranky gear shifts.

i swore i din feel the gear level was loose or anything... everything was normal until when i wan to shift up, my foot went onto empty space!

haiz... somemore the plastic in which the screws went into my tail light, one of them had shattered completely, cracks was showing on the only one too...

now my tail light cover was being held in place by a screw nia... :weep: bad day bad day!!!
