Hi guys,

I am riding a R1 2012 model.

Whenever i start the bike and clutch in i hear a rapid tick tick sound. But once the bike is warmed up the sound goes away. I had the same problem with my super 4 also,

When i asked the mechanic he said it is normal. So may i know if its a problem or it is suppose to be like that.?

hi. im riding the same model as you. yup its normal. i even went down to hong leong. you can call it the unique r1 sound actually. lol.

yes its a sound made and produced by yamaha, produce by the chain-tensioner ... uniquely by Yamaha only

Thanks bro…this means the sound can only be heard when u clutch in without warming up the bike right? Cuz when I rode a super 4 I experienced the same thing…

for new bikes yes you can put it this way ... but after a period of time after riding your R1, you will experience that the sound gets louder and more " commonly heard " when you are riding or stationary.

Has anybody tried removing the cat from their original mid pipe? I've read from somewhere it bring down the overall temp by a notch or two... is this true? would also try to wrap up the entire pipe... gosh, R1 is the hottest bike I've ever ridden, literally!

 

Does anybody know how much Seng Kwang charge for the cat removal?

for stock bikes, the timing chain is tighten by the auto chain tensioner automatically when the chain is loose and provided the tensioner is working fine.

 

But we wont be able to see or know if it is working fine as it is inside the engine.

 

Therefore, manual chain tensioner works by allowing the rider to tighten the chain manually when he hears the loud ticking sound and that elimates the problem

 

with the manual chain tensioner installed on my 11 year old bike, i have to say that it really works well for me

I wish to ask what other brand of engine oil do you guys use? So far used agip, motul & torco and usually change in between 3000-5000km. 8000km seems too over.

 

Know where can I make a new key find K&N oil filters for a good price less than 20?

Hi guys riding r1 2012…I intend to change my pipe just end can to termi or akra… but I am just unsure if I need to do a mapping or can I just use the ecu? I also confused abt the diff between the ecu and power commander?what is the diff between mapping and dyno jet? Somebody pls help me clear my doubt…
