This is the 21st edition of SITEX , making it the longest running IT exhibition in Singapore.

Singaporeans looking for gifts this Christmas will be able to find great tech deals at the SITEX IT fair, to be held at the end of this month.

The annual tech fair will feature 36 new exhibitors this year, including three from overseas.

Held at the Singapore Expo from 26 to 29 November, SITEX exhibitors will cover a wide range of digital and IT products including computers, digital music and media players, gaming software and peripherals, home entertainment systems and mobile phones.

Visitors can also look forward to special highlights on certain product groups, such as travel tech gadgets and sports electronics.

Events including an "All I Want For Christmas" lucky draw and a 'Ladies Go Tech' lucky dip will also offer customers with a chance to win attractive prizes.

New tech gadgets and products will also be launched during the SITEX fair. Overseas exhibitors will also offer products that were previously unavailable in Singapore.

The three overseas exhibitors are BuyRule from Korea, Manda Photo Services from Hong Kong and TravelSIM from Estonia.

Estonian firm TravelSIM will also be introducing its roaming SIM card.

SITEX will be held at the Singapore Expo from 26 to 29 November from 11 am to 9 pm. Admission is free.

hmmm... wonders will they start selling windows 7 pcs @ cheaper rates or will they still be clearing their remaining stocks for windows vista...

Inherited Will.

The Age of the Destiny and The Dreams of the People,

These are the things that will not be stopped.

As long as people continue to pursue the meaning of freedom,

These things will never cease to be!

Sitex is today fyi

For those who are going there by car, parking is $2.30 per entry after 5pm. Subject to availability of course, and it's expected that the lots will get filled up pretty quick.

Somebody has maintained a repository of deals/pamphlets on a website on SITEX deals. Click here to view them.

Enjoy the nice long weekend, guys :)

Win 7 Home Premium upgrade @ $219 w $30 voucher = $189, and you've gotta spend again to "fully monetize" the $30 off. It's a no brainer.

LG internal DVD drive going at $40 with free 25 pcs DVD. I got my drive (only) a couple of weeks ago at less than $40. Good if you need the blank DVD discs.

Yeah, well...like tourist magnet cities, tradeshows like these attract people and entice them to spend. :)

Actually I wanted to head to SLS this weekend for a new router. The WAN to LAN bridge seems to be broken every time I restarted the router, and needed a "restore factory setting" to work around it. Re-flashing with the stock firmware didn't help. I tried DD-WRT (the worse case is I have a three year old brick, which it almost is already anyway), and that seems to have done the trick! So, looks like I might not have to head to SLS afterall...:clap:

Anyway, the theme of these fairs seems to have switched from "getting people to spend", to "getting people to spend MORE". Something like the fast food "up-size"... Pay a little bit more for things that you do not really need. Of course, there are some people who are really hungry and the "up-size" is a good deal. For me, I'd prefer to stick to the "normal" size, and avoid getting myself overweight from all these marketing gimmicks... :p

I just went there today at around 11.30am and had to wait a good half hour for car parking. I wanted to get a Hi-Phone but after testing it, changed my mind cos the graphics and touch sensitivity really suck. I will wait for my service provider, M1 to release the iPhone 3GS next month.

In the end, Mrs got herself a Macbook Pro...:p

Sitex 2009 potshots

Notwithstanding cheaper prices in other stores, hundreds of Singaporeans and foreigners flocked to this IT show.

Here's some snippets that I took, from the time I parked my bike, to when I was inside.

First off, the scene outside SITEX:

This was like Aie has just experienced; it was crowded...TP was called in to manage human and car traffic. Car drivers had to endure the long wait in line for a free parking space.

http://img690.imageshack.us/img690/6233/img00009.jpg

Inside, the floor was bustling with activity, with salesmen-turned-Emcees touting products with discounted prices.

http://img341.imageshack.us/img341/8654/img00010.jpg

While making my rounds, I saw this $36,000* Can Am.

http://img341.imageshack.us/img341/43/img00011m.jpg

Oops, daddy's eyeing the Can Am...

The entire 1-floor exhibition hall is so huge, I don't blame Father and Grandma though. :)

http://img269.imageshack.us/img269/7581/img00013ck.jpg

Didn't take too much pictures because people were pushing and shoving too. :-/

7.30pm and the cars are still "trickling in". Loooong line.

(The barrier lifts up for an entering car when the carpark system senses another car exiting...carpark is perpetually full, cars displace other cars...)

http://img163.imageshack.us/img163/5326/img00014e.jpg

Bikes can squeeze past the barriers (hearsay), and once inside, there's quite ample space; though people are still parking outside the SITEX premises at the roadside kerb.

*OTR price. COE price will be calculated based on Category D premium (motorcycle)

Anyone had any trouble parking for motorcycles there?

I parked on the pavement. Everyone else was parking on the pavement. In the end, my bro and i got an external cd drive and a 19" monitor screen. So my bro carried the monitor screen while he was a pillion. So funny sia. Haha.

But really jammed packed inside. Nothing much to see also.

You guys should really the activity at around 9.00pm.

When it was announced that the show was closing and that we should make our way to the exits, all the salesmen/women were shouting, touting microphones and "last one; offer; cheap; lelong" banners.

Unbelieveable.

One small gripe about this show is that there's not much variety of exhibitor types. Too many laptop companies, too little accessory shops.

stay calm and carry on...

It's good because it's not a multi-floor exhibition in which everybody hogs the escalators down to the exit.

Did see some exhibitors from the previously held COMEX also being there too. And the cheapest laptop I saw there was a Core 2 Duo one priced at a whopping $1,100.

EDIT: Thread closed. Any more enquiries, you're welcome to use the SBF I.T. Q&A Thread. Thanks!
