My dad is a malaysian but has since become a singapore pr. He has a class 3, 4, 5 Sg driving licence but his motorcycle license is malaysia. He now wants to convert his Malaysian riding license to Sg.

From info i gathered he needs to get:

1. An official translation from JPJ

2. Pass his basic theory test

Is there anything else tat i had to take note?

And when going to jpj for the official translation will his malaysian riding license be cancelled or blacklist?

Anybody can help me out on this?

To convert your Australian license to a SG one, you need to have your passport and your Australian license. For students, you should have proof that you were overseas for studies e.g. student visa, Letter of Acceptance etc. For people who were working overseas, you should have supporting documents that you were duly employed. You should also have a letter from your overseas license issuing authority indicating when you passed your license test. You do not have to take a riding practical test in SG.

If you are already the holder of a SG Class 3 or have passed the Basic Theory Test (BTT), the conversion is straightforward. Bring your documents to one of the 3 driving centres and submit them to the counter clerk. If you do not have a Class 3 or have not passed your BTT, book and pass your BTT before going for the conversion.

The 6 months rule is not always strictly applied. It says that you need to have continued to stay in the foreign country for 6 months from the time you passed. However, I know of people who stayed for about 6 months but only passed their test just before coming back to SG.

If you do not have the letter from your issuing authority, you can still try and get your license done. When I did my conversion, the counter clerk only asked for my passport and overseas license.
