A bunch of us from the Biketech21 Fraternity have just put on a fresh set of Michelin Pilot Power Race dual compound tyres (medium centre and soft sides) to test out at Sepang this weekend.

Will provide the review when I get back.

I took a closer look at my tyres when I was at Sepang. The front was medium/soft compound but the rear was medium and not medium/soft.

I ran them at 30 PSI for the 2 days. These tyres can really build up heat fast and they are so sticky that pebbles can get stuck to them.

Handling wise... awsome especially with the 180/55 rear. Bike is quicker steering.

The grip is extremely good and confidence inspiring. No slides no wiggles.

Based on my style of riding... someone told me that I will never go back to Racetecs after trying out the Michelins.... I kinda believe him.

Now only depends on whether they last longer than Racetecs.

I was about to get a set of K2's b4 Sepang, then saw the Power Race special at Biketech.

So far so good. The tyres held up very well those 2 days. Consistency was excellent even after 10 straight laps on a very hot day. Road tyres would have started to slip after 6 laps on PG (that's shorter than a SP lap).

Confidence was there to just dive the bike deep into a corner, unlike my previous M1's.... where "should I, shouldn't I?" was always in the back of my mind when wanting to lean in deep.

PS....

BTW after a few laps, I noticed that the center region my front tyres had these large blister-like splotches of used rubber on it. Unlike the scuffed balling of the edges.

Is that supposed to be normal, or is it a pressure / suspension problem?

Ya... would they last longer than Racetecs, that is the question.

Anyway I fitted the same tyres on my DRZ. Front 120/70R17, Rear 150/70R17 both tyres in SOFT compound.

And I was crazy enough after Kelvin's inspirational ride last Sunday on my DRZ in the wet to try it out for myself. Going into a rainsoaked Turn 6 at about 120 KMH was an eye opener for me. The tyres can actually grip but I dare not push anymore.

PS - those are not blisters. Those are the scrubbed off tyre rubber from other people's tyres that your tyre picked up. That is how sticky the Michelins are.

Use your fingernail, you can peel them off.

He always turns down invitations to track. Unlike last time when he was so on abt it. Very domesticated by his woman these days, it seems. ;)

I'm not a tyre nut like you. I just know enough things to make a choice on my next purchase, that's the most important thing.

As for Sepang, well.... it'll depend on whether I'll still hold on to the R1 or not. Might sell it. Who knows?

Hi.

I'm planning to change my tyres but need some advice first.

Riding cbr 150, not big on corners. just need a real gd grip on road. Any recommendations? My friend said TT100 is good. If go to shop to ask, they might say this and that and i end up getting chopped.

Would appreciate some help

Interested in buying secondhand tyres??

shedevil21 has a set of tyres that was on her KR150 at Kallang Cycle, used a few times on the track. Slightly worn out at the sides but still almost like new centre treads. No chicken strips.

Good for transportation purposes. Bridgestone Battlax BT39 front and Dunlop GPR70 rear. Selling the pair for $50, cash and carry. Kallang Cycle mechanic (Boy) can fix it on for $15 and he does a real good job.

Interested??
