My tyres r both Bridgestones, I was thinking more towards either the dampers or steering cone or suspension... Anyone?????

Hi Greatman,

It happen to me few years back. My ST start wobble when it reach 170 and get worst at 180 onwards. I've tried replacing the steering cone and check the tire pressure. In the end the problem gone after I changed both tires. For me uneven wear on my front tire is the culprit.

I bought myself another 2nd ST that almost ended in the statistic again few mths back. Anyway I've already avoided Txxcx completely now. Those crooks must be there 24/7 and Txxcx management did not perform any actions to make that place safer, such a disappointment. Wonder what the management is thinking or doing about security, sleeping I guess.

Did you buy fire and theft ? i only brought 3rd party so didn't claim insurance for that lucky they found my bike ..........

Nope, only 3rd party, not a single cent back. $ is not the main issue, I was the 1st owner, had it since 2000, had a feeling for "her", after all we've been together almost 200kkm. Didn't sleep well for 6mths, wife cried as well when we found it missing outside the mall.

Been thru many happy times together up north. Those lowlife will burn in hell, they'll get their karma someday, this I believe will happen eventually.

My 2nd ST was used, didn't know the history so different kind of feeling.

Glad you found yours back, I lost hope after 1st year.

Enjoy your ride bro.

Thks bro RStyle. Probably u r rite. Btw, my front tyre was brand new but my back tyre was 80% new(???? being 2nd hd) according to my mech. When asked, he said COULD be my suspension or steering cone. Anyway @ present I'm trying not to go to fast...... Hehehe. By the way, do u think that the centre suspension could make the handle feel wobbly????? It sounds funny thou!!!!

Check tire pressure & wear condition.

If u have top box try not too much load or remove the box & ride again, shouldnt have the wobbly plm. If it still, give a little tap tighten to the cone steer. Plm should solved.

I ride with a miserable small 'kupchia' top box. Never have had any wobbly plm.

Handling is so well like without it.

With rgds to the wobbling handle, I only notice it during my 1st long ride to Malacca. Riding was a breeze. Bike come with a top box that can fit 2 helmets where I kept my stuff, side boxs storing rain gears and riding jacket. Only felt the wobble on the way back while trying speed of 210kph that is after we hit the expressway. Btw, what is the ideal pressure for the tyres. Front 30psi, back 40psi? How abt top speed? Rgds.

Bro, if u said that ur bike wobble when u hit 210 then it's normal especially with top box. Try to remove ur top box next time. The wind goes over ur windsheild, over ur head and came down hitting ur top box. That why it wobble. Hope this helps.

Ur speed so fierce...!

Tire should be cold at 36 front & 42 rear.

Simon,

Hehehe...... that's what Rosli told me. It was my first long trip with a group consisting of fjr, blackbird, hornet 600, BMW, gagiva sport bike & a super 4. Occasionally will breakout to blow some carbon. However only felt the wobble on the way back. Probably hit some potholes that cause pressure loss to tyre without being aware of it. Btw, anyone know where can get a good deal for windshield or anyone selling? Best rgds.

Greetings fellow V4 riders!

I recently took over ownership of a bike i have dreamed of owning for a long time (a VFR800 5th gen :thumb:) As the mileage is pretty high (almost 190k km), I wanna have some peace of mind by doing as much preventive maintenance as possible before embarking on long road trips! I figured the collective experience of all the high mileage V4 riders here would be the best place to ask for help!:cheeky: I have generally resolved most of the general wear and tear issues (brakes, electrics, wheel bearings, suspension), which leaves me with the final frontier - engine work.

Currently the engine is running decently, no blue or white smoke or burning oil, although there is a slight tapping noise coming from the top end at cold start up which disappears when the engine is warm. I am currently planning for some top end work eventually. (cams, gaskets, piston rings/rebore) However i have been discouraged against doing so as this engine layout is rather more complicated to work on, which is why ive come to seek your advice! Which mechanics/shops do you guys recommend to approach for a job such as this?

Regards,

Gab

My mechanic to me is quite good. Dunno will meet your standard or not. But do take note he works very slow. For your bike condition might take at least 2 months I think. If you are willing to wait then I will pass you his contacts. FYI, top overhaul for cl2 bikes price will start from $2k so be prepared. From my experiance with him, if no need to do he will not do. But if you insist then he will do. And so far he don't chopped ppl.

Hi Simon,

Just curious, cold means for bike reaching the petrol kiosk wait for awhile b4 pumping the tyre?

Hi Tanarthur,

Sure, I would love to know! Currently I am collecting information and planning for this eventually; so time and money are things that i'm prepared to set aside to do. I spent 3 months working on the bike myself before sending it in to a shop for more complicated work that i couldn't handle. The sweat and dollars invested into it is all worthwhile when you finally start it up again knowing you have many more years ahead to enjoy the ride. :thumb:
