Yamaha TDM 900

and for some of us here who would want to do the alu bashplate,here is a vstrom bashplate fittem on the strom..we mite want to take this as an example and maybe we customised alittle different to make it suits the TDM better.

Since it has never been made for the TDM,even on overseas...let us be the 1st....

 

so here it is for the strom.

Next up are the mounting clamps on the engine guards. These use little aluminum bolts, so be careful not to cross thread them. There’s four baby bolts per clamp...use a 4mm hex wrench to tighten them. The clamps are in three pieces: two tabs, and a cover plate of sorts that goes across the top of the clamp and joins the two tabbed pieces. The clamps should be approx six inches apart, but you can keep them a little loose till we actually mount the skid plate.

The rear mounting bracket for the skidplate is installed next. Use the holes from the exhaust support and sidestand bolts. The new exhaust bolt takes a 13mm socket, and the sidestand bolts take a 19mm. The instructions give torque settings for these three bolts, but I’ll let you use whatever is stated in your instruction sheets...things change. Besides, I don’t have a torque wrench...

Next, remove the two 12mm sidestand bolts. These are a bit more challenging, but with a big enough breaker bar, nothing is permanent. Make sure to support the sidestand after you remove it, so you don’t damage the wires on it. Use a 17mm socket on these:

The first step is to remove the exhaust support bolt on the right side by the brake lever with a 12mm socket. Easy peasy:

Time to mount the plate. Loosely attach the front of the plate with the 8x50 bolts, washers, and nut. Finger tight is good enough for now, we’ll tighten them down after the rear of the plate is bolted up.

Install the rear 8x30 bolts from the bottom to the captive nuts on the rear mounting plate. Just for a little extra, I added lock washers to the rear, and used red Loctite on them. I’m thinking they aren’t going to loosen very easily. Sorry, forgot to take a picture of this step!

 

Go back to the front bolts and tighten them down with a 13mm socket, and 13mm open end wrench. If all goes well, your plate will look like this:

So when the money flows,i will print out this photos sample,and go to you know who,Sengkwang...and fabricate with alittle different in shape and i want to add a tool compartment since the blardy underseat compartment is so small just enuff to store few condoms fresh packs...

We also had some drama at checkpoint. 1st link!!! hahha. Watched the sun rise while waiting for passport to get stamped.

i and takehow went to bikeproduction today...i was quoted brand new TDM 16.8k with everythg...4% interest....very tempting....

Asked price liao must buy meh? They expect me to make decision on the spot which i dun think is very nice. Anyway, the price is very good. AJ, how much they willing to take in your bike? Any other place got lower interest rates? The boss also a bit attitude prob, ask him things dun wan to say, say nego with the mechanic can liao. Really man of few words.

yah...same story also...that place has been known of the stuck up boss...but boh pian,i think that's the cheapest in spore...same lah,was told to ask the mech and also told to make decision on the spot..i ask him to offer my bike stock then he asked me back to give an offer...

 

so i said since he offer you 7k,i up to 8k.

he ask for my age and give the 16.8k....

then when i ask for what colour available,he said you change your bike to stock then upon then i can ask if what colour i want...steady...

 

how Mr Boon....new TDM?or stick to the ol ones?

sell private owner?wow...how many so called sincere buyer i've met...hur...hur...takehow knows....i tell you,the demand you get from them is even worst than what you see in the fish market.not to mention the super neg. on price...

i know lah..its not about crossing the bridge.most of us also have done so.

 

but being at the top of the hill overlooking the bridge and capturing the moment on my own camera lens and to have the experience being there is another thing...so anyone wants to go?maybe i will be going up there after our cameron trip.

wah...you really itchy backside ar...hmm...dont ride to much lah...save it for one good ride with all the good company is more worth it...

 

but sometime boh pian lah...you want to wait for the good company to plan and organise ride....

 

that sometimes end up you doing your solo thingy...its just you and your TDM...

 

The TDM will always make you itch for a ride...
