The other bike is a Triumph RS Sprint if I'm not wrong. (VFR kind of bike, but a inline-triple)

January's BIKE magazine have a comparo with the TDM, BMW R850, Honda CBF600 and another bike. guess who came out tops?

:smile:

Hahaha..The answer is obvious right? Any prize for the right answer? The TDM900!!! Truly, the TDM900 is a pretty underated bike in SGP. But I tell u the TDM900 sure surprised many other riders when its on the road. They simply look in amazement with its good fuel consumption and almost equal performance when compared to the bigger 1k cc and above machines. And its just a humble 900cc -> Cheaper insurance and road tax and fuel expenses :thumb:

not forgetting its 'original' slim body size allowing riders to squeeze traffic..

which is very very important for ppl who cant wake up in time for work EVERYDAY... like me... hahahaaa

obvious to us but not quite obvious to those who haven't experienced the ride.

here are the figures reproduced from BIKE magazine's review. imho, should be more accurate than "official" figures as they were measured on track and dyno-ed.

0-60mph = 4.75s

0-100mph = 11.30s

60-100 (in 5th gear) = 7.30s

Top speed = 135.7mph (217kmh) [speedo showing 146mph (7% error)]

Power = 72.5bhp@7700rpm

Torque = 56.9lb.ft@5900rpm

i just read the report and noticed that on one page where they list the specs... they had mixed up the pictures of the Honda and the Yamaha.... :giddy:

for those who have the magazine, did you notice that the recommended tyre is bt020. seems the jurnos like the bt020 very much and recommended for touring bikes in general. the only mention of z6 goes something like - it's a dead heat between z6 and 020.

alrite, jus finished on changing of the engine oils diy style...

Here's a few things to take note on if you plan to do the same.

1) Funnel - a normal funnel doesnt seem to fit as the hole for puttin in the oil is slanted to one side. Putting bike on side stands doesnt help... I use a plastic sheet and roll it up kachang putei style and use that instead.

2) Without changing filters, I used up slightly more than 3.5 L.

3) Get another spare bottle (at least 1 L) so you will have total of 4 after pouring in 3 bottles of new oil for storage of used oil. Easier to dispose them in bottles.

4) Get loads of newspaper to clean up the mess after eveything is done.

Total time only abt 20 minutes. Better than going to a shop anytime if you dont mind gettin some elbow grease.....

Thank you very much to all the warm-hearted brothers who have responded to my queries.

1) i have read that the 2005 version has ABS. I know nothing abt ABS except that it cost more, weighs more and brakes more effectively ....question : is it worth to have the ABS or the 2004 is good enough?

2) I have never seen this bike b4, saw the seat heat to be 82.5cm @ the lowest. I am 177cm, do u guys think the bike is uncomfortable high for my height? I like to have both feet touch ground, jiao ta shi di (脚踏实地)

3) I have read that this is a mid-range rpm bike (4000 - 7000rpm). Does it mean the power will come in @ 4000 onwards? If yes, does it mean pick up is lousy?

Pls advice, guys.

Never worry about Yamaha ABS, BMW was 1st to introduced on bike in the mid 80s K1100LT, Yamaha was second on FJ1200ABS, it was abut 3 times better than the BMW, as mentioned in one of the bike magazine, BMW ABS action (clamping and releasing the brake calipers was 12 actions per second where Yamaha's ABS was 33 actions per second. Sorry the use the word "action" as I can't remember the actual word used.
