guys.. need ur opinion & advise.. I have no big capital & spare cash of only $1K-$1.5K a mth, what kind of investment should i look at?

Btw, I have saved up abt 6mth of expenses & will not be touching this unless for emergency.. so the 1K-$1.5K a mth is purely for investments...

the next impt qn to ask yourself is how risk adverse you are.

what sort of returns do u expect over a mth or year?

how much time can u put into monitoring and adjusting your trades?

yr start up capital amt also needs to be decided

then u can decide accordingly what type of investment u would be comfortable with whether it is equities, commodities, forex, etc.

Dont mind loosing up to 50%

what sort of returns do u expect over a mth or year?

40% a yr

how much time can u put into monitoring and adjusting your trades?

20 mins during ofc hour & 1 hr at night daily

yr start up capital amt also needs to be decided

no start up but only mthly of $1K+

then u can decide accordingly what type of investment u would be comfortable with whether it is equities, commodities, forex, etc.

So wat are my options?

It's been a short burst upwards these couple of days. Seems to be levelling off a bit now, though.

Dow & S&Ps been up last 3 days, might be a little late now unless its 1-2 hit n run. JPM just released better than expected earnings.

Expecting to lose 50% and make 40% p.a. is a bit of a queer ratio.

I suggest you can go for forex USD/EURO or maybe something less volatile like USD/AUD for a start.

Not much start up required.

Various online accounts you can start up or even play for a trial basis.

Start small and dont let greed consume your thoughts and affect your decisions.

Remember to take into account the days price range and put in stop losses.

Good Luck!

No time horizon given.

it's difficult to advise.

but in most simplistic terms:-

1. save the money, $1k per month is a good start

2. gamble it in a casino since your expect returns are way beyond what investing can give you

3. go the way of margin trading but be prepared to cut at some point or you'll lose more than you are ready for.

perhaps you can just pick a few solid stocks, buy some every month or every quarter with whatever you have saved. repeat that for the next 10 yrs.

I reckon if ETF's a good option here.. Juz pick one of those many Lyxor ETFs gain exposure to a wide variety of markets. Or even the CIMB Asian ETF sounds good. Though the size of the fund is not that big...

If oil corrects back down to the 60 mark, this might boost liquidity and interest in equities and commodities, provided they remain at current levels.

I mentioned this last mth when it was 70 and wti is currently down to 60 mark and equities and futures are up 2-3% on the whole for this week.

Hope everyone is making from this.

Yah.... Yesterday didn't seem to have the effect expected... Probably due to profit taking as well....It's been a long while since the index hit 2,400 points...... what a long awaited sight.......

On the down side, I missed the boat again. I didn't expect the surge.

On the up side, my existing investments have sort of recovered somewhat, almost eliminating paper losses.
