when leveraging or margin trading, always give yourself a good buffer for market movements, dont max out and get closed out when market moves against you significantly

hahahaa... sorry bro, but no offense...

everything that has a leveraging effect IS risky... not just CFDs, same for futures & options....

well, end of the day, U always have a choice, a choice of how much U wanna leverage...

think abt it, if trading forex doesnt allow leveraging, would there still be so many people trading it??? :dozed:

So in the end, it's just different risks.

On one hand you could get caught with your pants down at end of day on a naked short..... and on the other, a margin call.

on the weekly timeframe, goin by fibonacci analysis, it seems that the STI would face significant resistance btw 2794 - 2844.

Disclaimer: I dont have any long nor short positions in STI or anything within that, lets see whether the above holds.

leverage is a double edged sword, so depends how to use it to your advantage

imho, underlying instruments is just a tool, it is human greed, lack of discipline that creates the most risk. ;)

still sounds risky.

investing is nicer if ure risking money u dont have to bet yr life on :)

who knows.... once those @ssh0les have off loaded their long positions, and gathered enough short-positions, they might just start the W4R....

like a conspiracy theory that i'd heard B4: those pp that orchestrated the 911 event, made TONS of $$$ by shorting the futures mkt the day B4... o_Oo_O

haha yeah, especially with new private investors when emotions run high dealing with their own money. very easy to double up and crash out.... 10 out of 10 traders are like that. including professional prop traders except they are usually more disciplined and restrained due to the fact that their jobs on the line. but even so....heh heh...

you know i know

Well, u know i know everybody knows, u either make or break.

just like any performance based job.

but as a professional trader u get more than adequate tools, support, guidance, opinions and experience from colleagues and your boss.

ure watching the mkt every single day for hours, not 5mins every 2hrs.

not good for the heart sometimes. :faint:

by the way, just to clarify , i am no professional trader.

in fact i am no trader at all. i'm more of a mid term horizon private investor.

How's the Nonfarm Payroll?

Seems to be slightly better than expected.

Hopefully we'll see the DJ more green tonight and Monday.

Non farm consensus was -100k, optimistic to prior's -190k

but actual was -11k!!

crude shot up 2bucks in 5mins.

generally, improved stats of that level can cause alot of long positions on the usd. i.e. drop in euro. if u looked at 1-2min time frame charts on usd/euro and the whos who of big boys buying upon release on the employment data u will get a clearer picture. when it came out tonight, it just went like a rocket.

its always good to know another persons view and also maybe let us know where u buy your dice from?:)

jus wondering, if you pass the settlement date for your newly accuired shares, a force sell happens right? Will there be any black mark for that? like blacklisted or smth? or is force selling as common getting samans for parking? :cheeky:

Cuz smth when its green, i hesitate to go make payment...

Very little effect on the DJ Fri nite. Doesn't seem to faze the STI either.

Strangely enough, my counters are moving positively. The big paper loss I took from one counter is slowly being recovered by a combi of the averaging down on that counter I bought in (the counter is going up again) and the unrealized profits on another.

Just hope that this can be sustained just a wee bit more so I can break even on that one.

then all the more I will be more worried when such +ve data has no effect on the US mkts.

this could mean its topping out.

when it was all in the dumps, even good bad news, eg. data better than consensus but still -ve outcome was released it moved things up.

but now, outright excellant bits of fundamentals are no longer mkt movers.

Technically we can't really call it good news per se. It's just that the situation is "not as bad as expected".

Well, we still have tonight. Let's see which way the hammer falls.
