Just wana get some advises and feedback...are we able to renew coe before the expiry year for example 2016?

Yes

But the new 5 or 10 year will start on the date u renew

Posted

Meaning u pay lesser also. Cause they will offset the balance COE too.

Sure or not? I did renewed my COE prematurely once but I didn't get any refund (in any kind) for my remaining COE. Furthermore, I was told by the LTA staff that the amount from my unused COE will be forfeited because refund of COEs can only be made for vehicles which are scrapped before their 10-year lifespan.

guess its kinda confusing..but when u renew coe before the expiry, what will be the new expiry?is it true we need to pay more than the initial coe or e same as e bidded coe?

Not sure about the expiry. But when u renew COE, the amount will not be the latest COE bidding premium. It's computed somewhat like this; they will take the average of the latest 3 COE biddings for 10-year renewal, if i remember correctly.

If your Vers rrquires major repairing then it's better off scrapping it. Pointless to spent 5K to repair it right.

True that. Make calculated decisions.

If you think you're using the bike for another 5 to 10 years, then maybe it's worthwhile to renew COE. But of cos, u must consider the extra repair costs to bring your bike back to stable condition. And expect no resale value if let say you want to sell it to third party; worst case scenario is people might not want it already. At most u can get back is ur unutilised COE.

Then compare to getting a brand new bike and estimate how much is the resale value (depending on how long you wanna keep it). From here you know the effective cost of the bike during the period of your ownership and compare to the cost abovementioned. Plus point here: new, accident-free, rightfully no technical faults with the bike and the awesome feeling of owning a new bike!

Twotwo, it boils down to you if you want to be practical and/or economical. No right or wrong decisions here.

To add on to his points,

you must also remember, that not matter what, you still gotta fork out $$$ for the bikes, present or future.

What I'm trying to say is this: lets say, it takes you $3.5K to get this current bike + we also make the assumption that you wanna keep it for another 10 years,

compare that with;

buying a brand new bike, maybe costs around $14K + COE $3K.

I'm guessing most people pay downpayment, so you gotta calculate the total cost inclusive of the interest accumulated on the instalments. that means for I dunno, at least 12 months you are paying off somebody?

then you'd have a clear picture. for some, they like the "new bike feeling" for some they prefer the "no debt feeling".

just my $0.02

Ultimately all depends on yourself bro. Old bike may not be a bad thing also. No computer stuff. Easier to troubleshoot and repair also. Parts may be cheaper too compares to EFI bikes. Personally I always love bikes running on cub to EFI.

Spare parts for Version S; Chong Aik is the ultimate supplier to me. Supplies workshops.

Easier still, go to workshops and ask for spare parts. They are more resourceful and have more suppliers in their phonebooks. I recommend Planet Motor (Ah Chong), who can get local, second hand and original spare parts, and HKL, who highly recommends getting original or stock spares. HKL get parts from Chong Aik also.

Take note: some parts and accessories are not mass produced for Version S already. CDI is one of them, the most crucial one. But there is still a local one, if let say you need to change.

If you really not sure, got FJT. Won't go wrong.

I have questions Been w my ver s for for only a month. Was wondering if ver s has power cut? Because i realised it is so hard for the bike to go beyond 130. At 120 it already struggles to hit 130. Reason why i ask is because I've read some riders easily crusing at 120 and hitting 160 is also possible. Another question, I noticed the bike has no mid-range power. I can feel it especially when in gear 5 and sometimes overtaking can be slow (and paiseh lol). Is it normal? How do i fix these 2 problems. Advices are much appreciated. Thanks guys!
