Bike cannot start.. after wash

Hi..

juz wash my bike at my work place...ended up cannot go home as bike cannot start... phantom 200... got batt. go ignite, but motor never kick in

Pet c o c k got on??? Try use choke..... Or keep push starting it.... Just push started a DR2 today after the heavy rain..... Run 4 rounds around the carpark....

does the starter motor crank? As in, can hear starting sounds, but engine won't come to life? And, if can crank, issit like engine will start abit then die off fast? If that's the case, may be water in the fuel tank. Not too sure about phantoms, but my pulsar fuel tank cap had a breather hole for air to go in to equalise the pressure in the tank. When i washed with too much water on the fuel cap area, water went into the area around the cap, flooded the drain tube then went into the breather. end up bike cannot idle properly, keep dying.

Do you open your airbox? Or use air filter?

Water might have gone into ur carb. A friend had this trouble when he used hose to wash the bike. Directed the water wrongly and it went to all the wrong places. And a friend using air filter needed to cover it with a towel everytime it rained.

The plug cap is wet that why it cannot start but can crank it...this happen to me also...either u leave 1 day & it should be ok...Just changed the plug cover....

water sip into the spark plug issit ? or water went into ur fuel tank or carb ?

from what i noe,phantom's spark plug tingy,the rubber/wire that connects to the spark plug,if wet,cannot start but it will crank..only cannot fire...dry it and it shud be ok..

Try take out spark plug n dry it...

 

If still cannot try push start it....

Water go inside his tank ba... keep starting and starting with choke in short intervals till it starts...

its best to keep a spare plug. if not sometimes rain then cannot start also very sian..

If water go in the tank? How to get rid of the water?

 

My bike same problem. Starter motor can crank. The engine kick in the first time but die immediately. Then the engine never start liao. Must try a few time then engine can kick in. Any idea to solve it?

if your bike is a carb model. drain the water via the carb bowl. find the small brass screw normally located right at the bottom of the carb. find a user manual, it'll normally have the diagram to show you where.

 

water is more dense than petrol, so it'll head down into the carb and sit at the bottom, where you can just drain out.
