Petrol cap cant open!

Been having this problem quite recently, have to always lubricate the part where the cache is. Sometimes, i have difficulties when i reach the petrol kiosk because i cant open up my petrol cap.

 

Any ways to rectify this problem other than to constantly have to lubricate the cache manually which i often dun have the time?

have you tried identifiying the real cause? rusted parts? misaligned sections?

The best way would be to go to your mechanic and tell them your cap frequently gets stuck. I'm pretty sure they can fix the problem.

try lubricating it with few drips of 2T or engine oil...

last time i ride tzr also got this problem.

sometime can open easily, sometime totally cannot open.

till i broke my key and stuck inside, then LL change a new 1 got 2 keys going around.

One of the way you can try is to push down the fuel cap and turn the keys. Sometimes it helps. But if cannot, then bikeshop maybe your best friend now.

Lubricating with 2T oil or engine oil helps? Cos i normally use WD40 for lubrication.

It helps alot mine can't even put the key in. Nearly broke my key. Slowly push in with a hard force able to open it, lubricate inside the key hole with wd40, engine oil, chain oil through inside mechanism.. Viola smooth criminal when opening the fuel cap cover now.

Oh by the way after applying try to manneouever the mechanism as much as u can in order to lubricate inside.

used to have the same problem with my rxz bike. Go petrol station then wanna pump petrol then key hard to open , turn hardly then brake. Paiseh sia got people see. Luckily my petrol still have half tank, then next day go to the shop i bought my bike then they gave me new key.

got this prob also, coz mine is an old bike..

 

i try wd40..but didnt last long...

 

so i lubricate using vaseline...just a bit in the key hole and the "moving parts" underneath the cap...and it solve the problem.

Read the definition of OEM before posting.

 

I gave up using the term OEM when it came to bikes. So many mechanic got so many different terms. OEM, original, aftermarket, imitation, pirated, local etc. I learnt only to use 2 terms. Original and not original.

 

I only used OEM when dealing with my computer stuff. At least the techies at SLS understand.
