CB400 SF2J Speedometer LCD burnout

my cb400 spec2 (2002) both the speedometer and clock LCD burnout internally.

Hardly visible. gettin bad to worse, any solutions w/o changing the whole meter which cost arnd s$600. Anyone having similar case , mileage hit 11k+.

 

see below post for Pics. I just need to replace the microfilm to solve the prob! Any expert's suggestion?

try changing the bulb behind the speedo will do...

my right lcd (clock) has burnt and folded inwards , damage already done . could be due to the bulb as suggested. any where i can get a used or a damaged meter , at least i can swap lcd inside. anyone ??

seems like the "liquid" has spill all over the display, the whole LCD module must be replace. By the way this LCD is showing the "Fuel" bar right?

hey guys. im having the same problem as well.. at first, the clock lcd started to show signs.

then when i rev it up, the registered km started to dissappear.. help guys. how can i solve this?

it is so expensive to buy a new one..

i have the same problem as the TS but mine is spec 1. I have open up my speedo to take a look, the problem is due to a piece of sticker(like what the ts mention micro-film) is burnt i guess is from heat from the sun. after i tear away the film then is no image, but when i stick back the film the image is back, i guess what we need is to replace the film. but i have search the web for a film replacement but i cant find any. so does any one know where to get the film?? or any of you guy have solve to problem without changing the whole speedo

I have the exact same problem also.. N looks v similar to TS pic. Maybe he was my bikes previous owner. Haha.. I found a meter cluster from eBay, shd be arriving next week or so. See if I can open it up n change the LCD inside, don't want to lose the mileage.

Problem solve, DIY it.

Open up the meter, tear off the burnt Flim

Next get an calculator and dismantle the LCD. Remove the Flim from the calculator lcd

Next cut out the size that we wan

Next Paste it on the meter LCD and ... DONE
