Yes... wash out the EO with petrol first.... but why bother when you can buy a big jerry can from hardware store cheaply.

If your bike fuel capcity 10 litres are you going to keep 10 bottles of petrol lying around the house???:cheeky:

No dude, just need 1L of spare petrol. Like I mentioned, want to noe how far the reserve tank can go. When it dies, I can just fill that 1L in and find a petrol station.

Sure take care of it... cos petrol tends to be corrosive.... scully the bottle melt and spill petrol all over your bag/bike.... For peace of mind go get a small jerry can.... petrol station have. :thumb:

YOu can calculate your fuel consumption to find out...first you must know ur fuel tank's reserve tank capacity.

Eg 12 Litres tank with 3 litres as reserve. If you know you get 30 km/L, then you know you can go abt 90km on your reserve.

i think should be able to. i suggest u pump in abt 100ml of petrol. leave it for a week or so. see if the bottle gets weaken or not.

but i think highly it will not. so shld be fine.

hdpe has good chemical resistance hence the use in storage of oils. shld work the same for volatile liquid like petrol

shouldn't be a problem. i did the same thing as you before. my petrol ended up being kept in my 2t bottle for more than a week before i poured it into my tank.

putting petrol in 2t bottle is a better idea. no need to wash out the 2t.

But I doubt the attendent at the petrol kiosk will allaowu to pump into it. They got safety guidelines to follow, need to use proper storage container when buying petrol.

Not advisable to use HDPE(high density polyethylene) container to store petrol.

This material will dissolve, very slow ur eye cant c, into petrol.

pls don't.

petrol will "eat" into the plastic bottle. you might no see it but it is happening.

that is y u see they only sell sort of metal can for you to refill at petrol station.

best is glass bottle or container made of glass but of course it is easily breakable.

Ok, I have totally forgotten this thread exist.

Why I was doing this? Because my wave odometer was stuck at 99999, so it was difficult to just calculate the mileage travelled/L of petrol pumped.

Anyway, I didn't went ahead with the plan to use engine oil bottle to store petrol. Bought a $10 4L petrol container from homefix instead. It was a good buy.

That's all. Cheers!

yes, they only allow pumping fuel into proper containers which they sell, and u have to produce ur IC for them to take down ur particulars
