to each it's own ... and i have experienced almost immediately "excessive heat" when i experimented with "Engine Oil that is developed for Diesel Engine".

 

That "excessive heat" was gone ... after i changed back to my usual EO for motorbike.

 

Are you still using "Diesel Engine Oil" in yr bike ?

 

my ride is a CB which could mean "Cool Bike" ... so my bike loves to be cool :)

i still using lorry oil and unlikely to be switching. abt half of my bike life run only on HDEO. Maybe will try Delo 400. One of the best dino juice around. Rival synthetic as what the bottle say:) recently chatted with an mechanic from a trucking company and it amazing how much abuse such lorry oil can take. From OCI of 20,000-30,000km to truck that operate for days without stopping yet only survive on topping up of EO for years. Of course those engines itself is extremely well-built. how can i not fell in love with HDEO:p

I used to be sceptical about the usage of diesel oil in motorcycle engines. However, some diesel oils now carry the JASO MA rating.

 

Nonetheless ... I would prefer to stick to motorcycle oils which I believe are engineered for motorcycles ...

hdeo and pcmo is pretty much the same except hdeo usually have more anti-wear, higher TBN, more detergent, more dispersant, more expensive shear stable VII and less FM. That sound alot like motorcycle oil isn't it:)

 

As for Jaso MA rating, most oil should be fine as long as it is not EC. FM use in most oil will not cause good condition clutch to slip in moderate amount. motul 300v have abt 280ppm of moly, redline bike oil have a whopping 500ppm for thier bike oil.

i am a witness that my bike dun like HDEO and "seeing is believing" :angel:

excessive high temperature ... is a tell tale sign of problem.

i did experiment with various brands of engine oil before i stick to SPC fully synthetic motocycle oil.

 

between lorry oil and motocycle oil, there is a S$ 7 difference per liter for SPC fully synthetic motorcycle oil.

 

My diesel engine van loves SPC fully synthetic diesel engine oil ... and performs very well with that oil ... i guess oil companies have R&D to produce specific oil for each type of engine.

 

in my much younger years ... i have DIYed enuf ... to make my 2 stroker goes faster ... i have tried 2T oil instead of engine oil :dozed:
