wobbling - throttle more, grip tank tightly when moving off, look further ahead.

incorrect position for ebrake means? you stopped too early?

i think you might need a bigger scoop of confidence. just trust yourself and GO! you can make it!

Posted
ah apparently its more for wobbling which is very obvious when i first come out from starting line, and after coming out from fig 8. then there are other things like missing a few blindspots and also incorrect position for ebrake. will ask instructor the next time! i thought i got everything down already but argh. from 12, 14 points before with 1 imm failure is like ZZZ when versus 40 points! i should stop wobbling. is it because of eye line problem?

"there, a wobbling bike!!" exclaimed an instructor... and all the other instructors turned their heads in unison... jotting down the tag number. bam 10 points per wobble... ouch...

ok jokes aside... well you probably wobbled because you didn't move off with enough throttle... its like being ultra slow on the plank... so a tip for you would be to press the rear brake slightly, open a little more throttle, clutch out smoothly and move off. once your clutch is out fully release your rear brake... rear brake is also good for stablising yourself in figure S

I cant pass prac 5 because I always max out the points for failure to check blind spot. How far back are we supposed to turn out heads anyway? Must make it until super obvious?

Never let someone else's irrational fears hold you back.

@S.m.H *looks at all your posts* wa you one shot answer all?? i took a bike with a little alightment problem also hahaha but i just carried on with it cause it didn't really give me much problems.

are you sure you wanna take this as a guide?

quite a few points missing leh, keekeekee.

I cant pass prac 5 because I always max out the points for failure to check blind spot. How far back are we supposed to turn out heads anyway? Must make it until super obvious?

must be super obvious!!!

not only for yourself but for instructors to see too!

i used to wobble whenever i check blindspots, probably cos look back for too long.

so one day i tried not to look for too long, just turn head slightly, enough for me to see. but then i kena from the instructor for rr that day, say i pretend to check blindspot but not actually looking.

wah, boring!

from then on i turn to make sure i can see and everyone else CAN SEE. just grip tank tightly to prevent wobbling while head is turned.

actually it is a very important habit.

checking blindspots has saved me a few times otr already.

once there was a big red van in my blindspot and i really couldn't see it in my mirrors, if i hadn't checked, i would have.......:faint:

@fredee please do tell me which few points missing!

and by the way, i finally passed prac 5. omg. yay. my fav instructor is incharge today^^

AND YES! i learnt that check blind spot MUST check until DAMN FREAKING obvious. esp for those wearing black helmets. try to paste sticker so that instructor can see the black ball of head actually moving. im gonna paste pikachu.

thanks all for the wobbling tip! so the trick is to throttle more yet apply rear brake... same for plank? plank i wobble to much. like really wobblewobblewobblewobblewobblewobble until all the way safely get down. LOL.

1. from starting, left signal, left blindspot, turn to left lane then signal right, right blindspot, turn to right lane.

Need to check back right and left blindspot before turning left

2. at blind wall, check back right, turn to right lane.

Need to stop 2 times before moving off from blindwall. 1st time before the stopline. After check back right, moved abit forward(front wheel over stopline) and stop again. Check back right again, road clear, then moved off from blindwall

3. signal left, left blindpot, change lane to left lane.. all the way then signal right, right blind spot change to right lane.

Before the curve, check right blindspot

4. check right blindspot, turn into the road.. slow down, right blindspot, turn into slope.

12. turn into left lane then signal right, check right blindspot, change lane to right lane... back at blind wall.

Refer to point 2

13. check right blindspot, turn into right lane, signal left, check left blindspot, change to left lane.

after switching lane to left, off signal. Near the sign board, turn on left signal again, check left blind spot and go into plank waiting area

14. queue up at plank. switch off signal. for plank grip tank slightly, look ahead, more than 6 sec. stop before salom.

Check back right before moving off

15. for salom, check back right, move off, less than 6 seconds.

Hand pressing the front brakes at all times. check back right, right leg down, left leg up. kick to gear1. check left, left leg down, right leg up. Kick up to gear 2 as soon as possible. dont drag gear 1

18. at give way line, must check right blind spot.

Think most likely is all the bindspot checking that cost u all the points. U can take the circuit map and ask the instructors to highlight to u all the blindspot areas if u are not sure. Hope the abv can help u somewhat. Cheers!

i agree with what barbaricboon has added on. especially so for the 1st check back right+left blind before moving off because this one instructor/tester can clearly see.

coming out of figure8, i usually clutch in early as well and sort of "free wheel" to the crank starting point. in fact, i'll try to make a slightly wider turn so that i can enter crank easier, because i actually have some problems with crank if i turn in at too tight an angle. so before exiting, i'll already turn on signal, clutch in, maneuver the bike where i want it to be, applying mostly rear brake actually cause too many things to take care of at that split second of time, and then finally kick down to gear 1 just before stopping.

Posted

For the slope, use rear brake when going downhill. Keep tapping. Cos most of the time, engine brake alone wont fully stop the bike before the line. USe as needed.

Also, turn off right signal after the guardhouse.

wow thank you very much for taking your time to correct all the mistakes! to tell u the truth, I DIDNT KNOW START OFF POINT MUST CHECK BACK RIGHT ALSO. *facepalm* i think im lucky i didnt get penalized for that because i have to check my right side to see if the road is clear before i move off. so i think to instructor, it is equals to check back right.

@Allen! ya like shadow said, dont give up! i went for prac 5 five times also =.= lack of practice after starting work. i think the CRs and RRs really work well if you take it as an examination everytime and not play a fool(like zooming pass paedestrian crossing)

@fredeee his name is Elson! he was the instructor for my fig 8 when i actually hit kerb n flew off the bike(which appeared quite jialat) and he told me that i had scared him to death after i jumped back up laughing. XD he tell me dont fall so much or not will be very pain. hahahaha. when i came back for another round the next time he asked me how i was and i told him im alright! just got blue black XDD. such a nice instructor

Posted

elson is not bad. i remember once during prac6 we were moving around the industrial area and this taxi wanted to cut directly into my lane because his lane was blocked. elson rode between us and horned the ass out of the taxi haha.
