Hi All,

Anyone tried the Romeo y Julieta Hermoso No 2. LE 2004? Any comments on this one? Airport is selling this at about S$620 a box, which works out to less than S$25 a piece.

The RYJ Hermosos No. 2 EL2004 is a splendid cigar.

Nice ring guage and length. It is one of my favourite cigars as the aromas are very very "enchanting" I keep 2 boxes of these in stock.

Amazingly, it is not very popular and continues to be the most available EL in the market. I believe the aging capabilities of this solid cigar

Read my review on it in http://www.cigarsreviews.com

Read some info about cuban and non cuban. A lot of info points that cuban quality are going down due to over production and non cuban are catching up cause they use other country tobacco and blend them. Cuban cigar need more aging compare no cuban. What do you guys think? I never try non cuban before so i don't know the different.

By the way some of the cigar i smoke taste a hint of salt, is it that i didn't store properly or my hand or sweat make that happen.

Cuban quality has improved since quite a few years ago.

So what you have read is outdated actually.

There are a few attributes and points about quality.

Do we mean, quality of construction, or quality of control in terms of blend, or quality of the ligero.

Non-cubans have always had higher "quality". This is becos Non-cubans need to be of high quality to attract buyers. Habanas are unique in taste and flavor and smokers sometimes overlook quality when buying them. this is the cause of the worsening of Quality in Habanas the 90s

Take for example:-

The Macanudo Vintage 1996 Corona Gorda vs The H.Upmann Mag46

Price is about the same. Size is the same but flavor, and taste and aroma totally different.

For rolling workmanship, the Macanudo is better. For condition of leaves, the Macanudo is probably better. For overall outlook , the Macanudo is better, for consistency in a box , the Macanudo is better. For overall packaging and presentation, the Macanudo is better.

But in the end many including myself will still choose the Upmann Mag 46.........

the comparison is similar to a Harley Fatboy and a Honda Shadow

The Honda Shadow is better in every sense, right down to delivery of power , smoothness, efficiency, maintenance, construction quality etc......But if you are a true blue Chopper/Cruiser rider, your final destination is a Harley. People will overlook, the noise, the discomfort, the high price etc becos it is a Harley.

Some cigar do taste a little salty or meaty.

I find Cuaba Salomones, La Gloria Cubana Medaille D'Or series particularly so.

It could be also that the Torcedor has been perspiring while rolling the cigar so the ciagrs taste salty....HAHAHAHAHAHAH......high chance.

How can the cigar not perspiring when you light a butane lighter on it's foot hahahaha.

Long time never see you guys organising any meet up. I am very interested to join the next meeting you guys have.

Cheers

We just had one before i left for Hong Kong late Jun. After I came back from HK, Entity left for Bali.

Now, I'll be travelling the next 2 weeks so it may be a little difficult for me to organise any herf. Perhaps Entity, Nitestalker or Sev or Squid can organise one soon?

The earliest i'll be available is late July.

Just got a RYJ petit piramida LE 2005 ($28) & a Hoyo petit Robusto ($24) from oaks tangline. RYj doest meet expectations for a LE, needs to be aged longer. Oaks selling Ramon Allones Gigantes(19.40 CM / 7.6 inches) for $34. Usual price is $43. U guys might want to go cheak it out.

Yes the RyJ Petit Piramide is a very mediocre smoke for an EL.

However for $28, it is still alright.

RyJ blends are usually not so popular for the ELs.

Certainly needs aging to bring out the better in them.

Did a Partagas Piramide EL 2000 and a Hoyo Piramides EL 2003 tonight at friend's wedding. Thumbs up!
