Hi Torque,

Congrats, at least they were not novelty cigars.

They are Dannemans which originate from Germany.

They are machine made cigars which are individually wrapped in cellophane, pre-cut and taste kinda grassy (totally diff fromt habanas).

The draw is loose compared to a premium cigar and therefore, it will may get hot when drawing. Such cigars smoke very quickly due to the little amount of tobacco leaves used compared to premium cigars.

The aroma is dry and a little herbal. whereas a premium cigar will be rich and very full bodied in comparison.

anyway, Dannemans are a great way to start smoking cigars.

But just to let you know that they are certainly not up to mark yet. you should tey a Partagas serie D No. 4 - selling in the shops for about $28 each.

Becos ssometimes, people tell me they have smoked a cigar and dont like it.I asked them what they smoke, then they tell me Danneman, Henri Wintermans, Villager etc...which are all low graded mass market, machine made cigars.

No wonder....

and if you already think that Danneman is good , then you really must try a Partagas serie D No. 4, just once.

have fun. enjoy

premium cigars not available at cold storage or 7 - 11 or minimart or petrol kiosk lah, bro. i'm sure you know that.

premium cigars can only be found in singapore at specialised tobacconist or cigar shops

can try buying at oaks located inside takashimaya. I find the prices OK for individual cigars. or you can simply walk into any cigar shop in a hotel.

look for a partagas serie D no. 4 or perhaps you might want to try an epicure no. 2. they should cost about $28 - 30 each.......

choose slightly soft, shiny oily cigars, this is a sign that the storage is good and the cigar is "alive"

you will notice that none of the machine made cigars are oily or shiny. becos they are usually stored badly and quite dry. in fact some burn like dried grass.

here is a look at some premium cigars. excuse my hairy legs

tried the machine-rolled "Havana" last night.

can "taste" it's good tobacco leaves, just poor manufacturing process that's all.

not even half the "shiokness" of a premium cigar but will do for long protracted toilet visits kekeke :cheeky:

Yeah, those exquisitos are stronger than usual DR cigars and other normal machine made cigars. I would rate them only 4 out of 10 overall

the draw was very loose right?

the taste is harsh and very grassy.

In fact after half a cigar, it's time to give up.

The villager will probably taste better and less harsh but it is a sweetened cigar and really nothing compared to the private reserves. heh heh

The aroma itself is enuff to knock out any standard machine made mass market cigar.

just notice how oily and shiny the wrapper is?

this is due to the humidification and superb storage condition.

continue to let it age, and it will be even nicer to smoke.

However as you do not have a humidor, it may be better that you do not subject them to change of temperature too much. Taking it out every nite to smell is OK. HAHAHAHAHAHAHA

enjoy cheers

Try the hoyo de montereys cigarillos or the monte cristo cigarillos.

cheaper than the cohiba minis.

btw....the last batch was not as good as the first batch, unlike wat u told me....hmmm.....could it be i unwittingly damaged it? does the cut influence the taste? haiz....so much to learn, no time to smoke....:giddy:

problem with cuban cigars in the recent years is that production is way under demand so consistency has been a big problem.

Dominican republic cigars certainly beat cubans in consistency and construction.

Also, one reason could be differing palates, meaning what i like, you dont and what you like, i dont.

just to find out, what was exactly wrong with it? it is the burn, the draw or the flavor or aroma ?

storage is the most important in maintaining the condition of your smokes.

Cutting may influence the draw and the burn and some of the taste.

maybe what you need is a branded premium cigar from my humidor.

Let me know............hahaha

hmm.....flavour not as pronounced....slight "bitter" aftertaste....could it be the chilli crabs i had before that?? hmm.....

yup....could be a difference in palate....the first "batch" was just great :lovestruck: maybe just the contrast?

I know that the reason is becos of MITA's stance against publishing any pic of anyone using tobacco.

but when you think of how silly it is when alcohol ads are allowed and soft porn is allowed. (thats what Maxim is isnt it?)

anyway...

Hi y’ll. Just came upon this thread. Seems there are not many cigar smokers in the riding community. Now, a little about myself….

Picked up smoking cigar when I was still under the age limit… Still remembered I bought my first cigar from the Oaks shop at Taka after a few hours of research on the internet the night before in 1998. At that time, think there’s was this nice middle age lady working there. Walked in, told her my budget, and she recommend me the Montichristo No. ?. I forget which number was it but I know it cost $14.00 at that time. After that, there was no turning back..

However, stopped for quite a long time already. When I went into poly, the circle of friends I’m with do not take too easily to my cigar habits. Morover, it’s quite hard to smoke cigars in schools when you have only and hr or 2 breaks in between classes.

Now, I have ORDed, working for the past year, I begin again, but very very slowly, limiting to once a month or more…. The place I like best would be the Havana Room at Raffles City area… When you exit the place after an hour or 2, you feel like you are leaving paradise…. It’s so calm and relaxing inside. The music they play, the sofas, the Havana coffee… Man, it’s been almost 2 months since I went there…

But I’m still a beginner. The montichristo is a bit too spicy and strong for me. What would you recommend Throttle? Would like to try something medium, and nothing woody or oak tasting… Do not mind spending a little more ($18-$30).

This will be one of the threads that I will be coming back very often….
