Is Havana room still open? Was told by one of my friends that it closed down but never went to confirm that.

Not too sure bout that. Been a long time since i went there...

Havana Room has closed down if I recall correctly more than 6 months ago.

You said you haven been there for 2 months??? hhmmm...

Anyway, there is Connoisuer Divan at Mohd Sultan run by Pacific or you could go to City Space, part of the equinox outfit. many other places also can like at home. at the park..etc.. haha.

Will, if Monte is already too spicy and strong for you, then you are a very light smoker. Cuban cigars are generally heavier. go for the dominican republic cigars which are more floral and light. You could try a Macanudo Vintage Corona.

I'm doing my Dip 2 and el rey del mundo Choix supreme tonite. Happy man!

cheers.

It's been 6 month!? Damn, time really flies. Yet to try the Dom Republic. Thinking of trying the patagras (spelling wrong, sorry) or the RnJ. RnJ from where, may i ask?

Romeo Y Julieta is from cuba Partagas as well.

Both are stronger than Monte Cristo.

Ic. Actually, The Monte is just spicy, but given another one without the spice but the same strength, that would be best. I'm not sure is i'm making sense. you know what i'm talking bout?

I'm puzzled becos the Monte is by no means spicy.

Both RYJ and Partagas are in fact spicier.

but if you are really looking for a comparable smoke, try one of my favourites.

Diplomaticos No. 2

============

very Leathery smooth smoke, with strong taste of roasted nuts.

Aroma is woody and earthy. No spice at all. Medium bodied.

Went to The Oaks at Tanglin Mall yesterday.

Throttle: saw the "rosewood" humidor u have on sale....also saw a metallic case-type humidor...looks so cool...like a gun-casing muahahaha....costs only $100+....is price necessarily an indication of a good humidor?

Cohiba Minis out of stock....bought Montecristo cigarillos instead....50 sticks for $110

poot.

Huh? I didnt know that they sell Monte clubs in 50s.

anyway , those are good smokes . not as strong os the Cohibas though.

a good humidor is simply one that keeps your cigars in good condition.

price is not a determinant although it is a factor.

usually the expensive ones are more well made in terms of the quality and wood and accessories used. You wont really need one unless you have a bundle of cigars to keep. heh heh

a relatively laid back CNY 2005.

only did an El Rey Del Mundo Choix Supreme, a Partagas Lusitania, and a Por Larranaga Petite Corona.

Next weekend will be off to Hong Kong for a Big Smoke....

Hope to blast through a few good deals before next Friday.

Enjoy the short work week fellas.

had my first Monte Cristo Edmundo today.

cost: $35

year: 2004

appearance: light well constructed shape and wrapper with little veins.

prelight draw: excellent airflow, cedary taste

first third : tangy and cedary with hints of coffee beans

mid way : strength of coffee beans increased and tanginess disappeared, smoke is more leathery and cedary with a lightness of spice

last third : spiciness creeps in and tanginess returns while the toasted coffee taste fades to a more peppery aftertaste.

burn and ash : below expectations and ash rings were not tight. the grey ash did not hold too well.

additional remarks: smokes like the No. 2 but taste stronger yet harsher perhaps due to the age. total time taken 52 mins

Overall rating = 80
