it is Propylene Glycol gel or mixture with water (50/50).

it will maintain the humidity at 70%.

Sev,

adding PG8 may not help.

Your problem is that humidity is too high so you have to rid the humidor of the humidity first.

Putting it in the sun is the quickest but also the most dangerou as it may crack the cedar wood intereior.

Just leave it open in an aircon room overnite.

then next morning check the humidity.

IT should drop to 50%.

Close the humidor and let it sit for a day.

dont open close open close.

after aone day open and check. the humidity should go up to 60 - 65%. Apply a little of the pg8 solution. and let it sit for another day.

It should stabilise in a few days.

As you do not have many cigars to line your humidor, dont wet it too much.

I calculated, in 2005 up to date I have already spent around $5,000 on cigars alone. But I must admit, this year, i am doing double of what i did in all previous years.

So I estimate, including accessories such as lighters, humidors, cases, cutters etc...I would have spent probably around $15,000 or so, in my five years of cigar smoking.

i still can't get my humidor's humdi correct.... always above 80%... already got the PG solution, but it doesn't help although it says it will absorb the excessive humid...

think i need to get a thristy hippo to asorb the humid in my humidor... :giddy:

you mean when you open it the hygro reads 80% already?

It's due to the high humidity of Singapore.

Leave it in aircon room open to dry it.

I advise getting a digital hydrometer to get an accurate reading of the relative humidity. My analog hydrometers are VERY inaccurate. The "wet towel" technique doesn't work for me.

That said, the only consistent method of maintaining a stable 65-75% relative humidity inside the humidor is to balance it with cigars ie. if RH is too high, put more cigars in.
