had a P2 last nite. it was great! very smooth and chocolatey after the first third. provided me wif abt 1.5 hrs of pure bliss!

only drawback was the the fact the tip was damaged, and it kindda unravelled halfway. nonetheless, it was still a wonderful smoke. let's get more of it guys!

hi i'm back.

while it was good, it was still biting to the tongue.

due to age i suppose.

anyway, like my earlier post goes, quickly "sao" all the P2s otherwise the blend "koyak" like what happened to Monte 2.......in 02, 03, 04

anyway, Monte 2 starting this year has been satisfactory for me.

btw, it seems that the humidity in my humidor is slowly but constantly increasin. tried puttin it in the aircon room overnite and was ok for a while. it's increasin again. readin abt 73% now. wat shd i do abt it? its definitely not the humidifier cos its not in it at all

Just dont open to inspect the contents so often if you want humidity to stay low.

Singapore IS highly humid as you know.

Are you experiencing bad burning or poor taste or mold?

If not dont worry.

Anyway, 73% sounds perfect to me.

I keep mine up to 75% even. No problems

yes, i do open it up almost everyday to admire when i have time.

the humidity will reach a point and stop.

oh...many different ways,

the popular dressed box of 13 over 12

the SLB of 8-9-8

the uncommon 6-6-6-6

the rolled up bundles

the cabinet 10s

the magnum WILL be good for sure, it is Upmann's flagship Gorda size.

Sure , you should be able to find some nice pipes at fair prices from Oaks at Tanglin. Look for the friendly malay guy called Dani.

Alternatively you can go to Peninsula hotel shopping centre where you will find on the ground floor a shop selling many pipes.

However let's not talk about other tobacco products here as this thread is dedicated to Cigars only. Kindly do not be offended. Thanks for understanding

a few things to look out for in a good cutter.

price only determines so much.

here i am talking basically about twin bladed guillotine cutters

a good cutter has surgical steel blades which are almost razor sharp (eg. Palio)

it has a self sharpening mechanism in the sense that the blades sharpen each other every time you open and close the cutter. over time the oils of the cigar cap may get onto the blades and cause the opening and closing to be stiff. very simply just clean it with a paper towel.

the final test is of course the cut. a good cutter cuts very clean and straight when given a well conditioned cigar.

best cutters for big ring guage cigars are still twin bladed guillotine.

for a neat look, some people like the punch cut.

for elegance, some people use the scissors which usually cuts the poorest.

the single blade guillotine cutter is very popular becos the design is not as cumbersome as the twin blade but may not be as easy to use.

nope, use until blunt then throw away...

more twin blades are self sharpening, i'm still using my first cutter from switzerland. try not to buy on the net, becos you cannot feel the blades.

if you run your finger on the blade of a good cutter, you can almost feel your skin being cut. thats a good test of sharpness.

i have seen many twin bladed cutters which are so blunt, cannot even cut vegetables, hahah.

if you can wait, buy it overseas, especailly in europe, cheaper and a lot of selection.

by the way, Xikar cutters are fine examples of blunt blades
