Hoho, mad rush for glass jars now.

The porcelain or china jars would be very nice.

i got a solution for you, nitestalker.

smoke your RYJEx4 and other cigars in your humidor at double quick time and you'll have space for your choixSup!!

Just had myself an RyJ Exhibition No. 3 to compare the difference between that and the Ex No. 4.

It was an '04. However, there's still the "bite" present. I've realise that the "maturing" of the Exhibition No. 3 and Ex No. 4 is longer than for other cigars that I've been smoking. Taste-wise, its quite similar to the Ex No. 4 except that it has a longer finish.

Perhaps those of you that likes the Ex No. 4 should give this a try, especially since it's easier to find an aged Ex No. 3 than it is for the Ex No. 4.

On a different note, I can't believe you guys are running out of space. It shows that I've been buying more "space" than cigars lately. Time for me to step it up a notch!

Nightstalker, thought you prefer the taste of the Fonseca No. 1? How come the sudden liking for Choix Supreme?

Posted

YEs , the Ex3 certainly taste quite like the Ex4, I've not had many but chose the Ex4 over the Ex3 simply becos I prefer a shorter fatter smoke over a corona gorda.

The Ex3 is indeed worth a try, as Entity mentions, for those who like the Ex4.

I think that production quantities of the Ex3 are lower as with its popularity compared to the Ex4. In fact, you may not even find it in some shops.

Today I'll be doing an Edmundo, an Upmann2 (from the glass jar), or maybe an RYJHermoso2.

How much did you pay Entity?

As long as it works fine, it's OK.

I'm looking out for a blue humidor as I find the color very nice.

But the last 2 weeks I was whacked upside down by the market.

Calculated total realised loss to be about 15 boxes of Sublimes!!!!

It's March going to Apr and P/L down to square one....

very heartache.....now cant bear to buy any "luxury" item

I paid slightly above S$200 (inclusive of delivery) for it. It fits well and all, just that I really wanted a real carbon fibre humidor, not a checkered one.

Anyone wants it? Put me an offer.

I can bring it out to show those who're interested.

The only difference is that there is a small metallic plaque in the middle of the lid that says "NIBO".

Throttle, my sincere condolences. I know exactly how it feels.

managed to find a glass jar at home. phase 1 complete! haha...

the reason y i wanted to get the choix supreme was that maybe we could share. but it seems like everyone's humidor is full. maybe i outta get the fonseca no.1 in tat case. cheaper too...

Make sure your glass jar is odorless. Be careful not to taint your cigars....

Will put up a pic to show the glass jars later.

it's ok to juz leave them in the glass jar w/o any cedar lining rite?

by the way, is there any difference if the stogies are stored horizontally and vertically? seem to rem there's supposed to be a difference...

Throttle, didn't expect you to decorate even your glass jars as well. So cute!

Nightstalker, it'd be better to line your jar with cedar wood to "preserve" the tobacco scent. Also it lets in less light (which is a good thing, in my opinion). Standing or lying down, both should be fine. Some of the most expensive collector's Cuban cigars (eg. Monte Robusto Millenium, Cohiba Pyramides Millenium) are kept in opaque ceremic jars standing up. And I believe the Cuban's know what they're doing..

The jars were too plain and lacked "character", heh, so i had to do what i had to do. Individualise them......

It's ok without cedar lining but definitely better with it.

I left the other one without any cedar lining as i only have 5 La Glorias in them together with my house cigars.

Tonight i had the best RYJ Hermoso No. 2 EL2004 in my life.

Slightly biting at the start but mellowed into a very well balanced, full flavored smoke with chocolatey and coffee blends until the middle where deep honey caramel taste and woody tones took over. The scent was a very rich fermented nutty whiff. Draw was perfect and burn was beautiful. I still have about 10 of these but another box is definitely on the way in the very near future.

RYJ Hermos No. 2 EL2004 is about right to smoke now with around2 years of age.

It is surprising not very popular and still remains one of the most widely available ELs of 2004. I would rate the one that i just smoked a 95 for presentation and looks, a 100 for draw and burn, a 90 for complexity, a 90 for taste and flavor.

Splendid!
