hie guys, need some of your feedbacks. my handle bar swerves left to right like crazy when i let go of it at around 80km/hr or so..so i'm having certain problems of what is wrong with it

is it because of

1) cone bearring spoil already ?

2) my wheel bearring spoil ? bt i just changed it recently

3) my folk not straight ?

4) front disc brake dented ( im guessing this cos i found that my front wheel will stuck if i start to roll it while on mainstand )

the swerving started to get real crazy after i self-skidded and thus my front disc brake and folk is not straight (as told by mechanic.) already sent my folk and rim for pressing to make it straight again..i realised this few weeks ago after my accident..super2 bad uh the my handle bar swerve.

Your front disc sounds like it has warped. But it shouldn't affect the handling. Just affects the braking.

I think you probably have too much weight on the rear of the bike because of a box or you may always have a pillion.

Nothing much you can do here as this is a common occurance with Cubs. You may want to consider transferring more weight to the front tyre. Add a basket to the front or sit further in front.

And also change the front tyre depending on its condition.

I hope this helps.

yea bro i do have a box. question, box do make the handling quite bad is it ? hmm didnt know about this though..hmm i've just changed my front tyre due to its uneven shave already and the swerving is not that bad for now..thanks for your opinions bro, a big help i have to say..

Yes, the box affects the bike handling.

But what it does to the front tyre is that it creates the uneven wear that you have experienced resulting in the shaking when you release your hands from the handlebar. Somehow, with cubs especially, the weight transfer to the rear, causes uneven wear on the front tyre. I've learnt to live with it, I just change the front tyre when the uneven wear is really bad.

I'm quite surprised to hear that it should still shake (even a little bit) after changing the front tyre. Do you have a heavy box? Or box with lots of heavy things in it?

Two other things that I wanted to check on your bike:

1. Is the fork alignment still crooked?

2. I think your disc has warped. To confirm: When you apply pressure on the front brakes, do you notice that the brake lever seems to be moving (like shaking in and out quickly)?

hmm dont think my box is heavy.things that are inside them are just raincoat and some tools.

how to know whether folk alignment is crooked ? i asked my friend and he told me that if you try to 'corner', you can feel that it wont be that stable, somesort like that. i do feel that its harder for me to turn to left corner now as the handle like want to go to the other direction.

im also thinking my front disc brake is warped like you mentioned earlier.. i do feel my front disc brake kinda giving the thugging feel when i'm slowing down or when i apply the front brake pressure.

Recently this happened to me too. It got worse after mounting my box. Now even when stationary i can feel my handle bar shake with my front brake being applied and me turning my handle bar left and right it just feel like my wheels are dropping out. FYI I already change my cone bearings and disc brake rotor both the front and rear I am riding a 125z can it be due to my front tire? It's battlax bt39 been using it for 10months....

Just looking at the front tyre and the front fender should be able to confirm if it's out of alignment. You can look at it over the handlebar when you are on the bike. When you are riding you should be able to tell that the handlebar is slightly crooked. When I was riding XR400, this usually happens after we fall. We would normally twist the front tyre back into alignment, you will hear a 'tiak' sound. However, it's been quite difficult for me to do that with the cub. Maybe I'm old already, hand not so strong. So the next best alternative is to release the clamps holding the front fork and tighten it again.

I think you are riding Spark or X1R, right? The material for the front disc of these 2 bikes not too good. There have been many cases of bikes with warped disc. I've changed one set of front disc on my Spark already. Luckily, my current one is ok. You may want to consider using this opportunity to change to aftermarket or oversized disc if it is really warped. (Poison) No point changing to same thing cos depending on your luck, it may warp again.

Would you like me to have a look at your bike when I'm back in Singapore? I'll be back in town on 12th Sep. I'm not expert or workshop mechanic but should be able to tell what's wrong with it. Telling stories here quite difficult to really help you.
