My old bike , i did not realise rectifier had problem even after change new battery .... keep dying too quickly until fed up and ask mech to check bike completely .... found out rectifier had become like melted chocolate. jialat .

Hey guys, thanks for the concern shown.. I'm ok....

 

According to TCY description its somewhere there. just that he has use his superb Ang Mor to lighten the event.

 

Regretable thing was if fire would be put out earlier maybe damage wont be that great i guess....

 

After the fire, upon closer look, i discover its the CDI that started the BBQ of my butt. Its was actually still glowing red at some point....

 

Frankly this is a very rare situation for most bikers. Who in the world will think his own bike caught fire while riding...

no lah our cute gyan was not running around madly with his backside on fire... only his bike was burning merrily.

and unfortunately, all he has is 3rd-party insurance coverage, no fire & theft... sigh...

Spectrum : perhaps can consider asking Honda to customised an extra bracket on the bike for a mini fire extinguisher for contingency plan.

Whahaha i was not on fire in the first place.

 

I noticed smoke was trailing behine me while i slow my bike down. Initially i thought it was my engine or exhaust giving me problems, so i rav my throttle to c if there is more smoke.

 

But no, the smoke was constant, so now something is really wrong and i quickly ride to the side of the rd n get off. Now the spectacular view begins. Smoke was coming right out of the rider seat, quickly, i open the pillion seat n saw flames under the rider seat location. So instinctly i remove the items i have inside the compartment.(tool kit, cloth, sunglass, bicycle strap, and a net).

 

Now i tried to wacked the flame with the cloth but no use. its burning in a unaccessable location from me. (unless i have 5 mins to unscrew my seat)

 

Now worried it might burn n explode, i ran uphill towards the hospital. Just happen there's some construction going on, so asked for water.... The blanga tried to help but they dun F@@King have any water with them.

 

So ran uphill even more towards Mount Avernia hospital to grab hold a fire extinguisher and dash back towards my bike. By the time i reach my bike someone apparrently had just put out the fire for me. Its the forman from the construction site. (really appreciate his help)

As u guys can c, the bike is grey in color, thanks for his effort n the extinguisher powder... Might be hinting me its the future paint i should get.

 

Though fire was out, i stayed there for a couple of mins with the extinguisher in arm hoping no out break or a 2nd burst. Thats when i discover the bright red part which i mention earlier on.

 

Even B4 i went to worked that morning, i somehow had an uneasy feeling. Believe it, i actually had my gear on. Gloves n jacket, jeans with rain pants on but open face helmat. Maybe i was expecting a skid(which is a norm for me) or someone kissed my butt not my own wife BBQing my precious round, firm, smooth natural human seat pad!!!

 

what 2 SUAY yrs i have. I might start a crash n burn thread, maybe SBF will let me be the moderator for that thread.

 

 

Overall, at least i'm not injured worse butt disfigured......

Now just waiting for damage accessment form surgen. Hope it wont cost a bomb to get my wife back in shape.

Hmmmm admit that it's reallie an unexpected thing that no one think will happen lucky u were very alert.....juz dat happened to be in a place where u couldn't get water easily.....haha i thought the flyover looked familiar (near my home)

 

Dun be too sad...now juz repair first....later den decide wat to do.

We love our bike right... So that's the park for us...

We can ride to Pierce Reservoir after mtg..

It's how we get out or recover from situations in life.

Think it got to do with the handling of the bike...

And when things get old, there is always wear & tear.

Just need to keep a do regular checkups.

So maybe need to chg the Ignition or rectifier if it looks worn...

hmmmm..... did all repairs or service b4 the 4day trip around Sept-Oct. Shouldent be a problem. On handling part...

 

Guess what, i called NTUC, they said the company seldom insure vehical for fire n theft above 10 yrs old...... Guess i'm really fated to get my butt burnt.
