I have 2 installed since january... I can't really feel the difference of the plug n go because I have plenty of other things combined together already to give me extra boost...

if you're interested, maybe we can come out 1 day and swap our PCX for a while to appreciate the differences between stock and modded...

Hi all, I've got 2 questions to ask.

1) I can feel sudden and strong jerks on my PCX when I move from a stationary position. The jerks become more apparent when I slowed down (did not come to a complete stop), and throttle to move off again. After a few times, I noticed that these jerks occur when I'm building up speed from 0-20kph. I went to service it and I was told it had something to do with the rollers, I got them changed when the time is up but the problem still persists. These jerks can be strong and weaker at times, depending on how much warm-up it got (not sure if it's relaetd) and I could hear a "thud" sound everytime that happens.

2) Apart from the first problem, my PCX tends to die off while it was still idling. It happened twice when I was stationary at the traffic light, I was about to move off and it died when I throttled it. I had to start the whole bike again.

This morning when I was U-turning, I opened throttle and I felt that it "died" for a moment but as I continued my throttle, it came back to life. I didn't take notice at the dashboard to see if power was cut off because I was already quite shocked that it nearly died on my U-turn.

To add, there was once when I was on idling-stop mode and it died when I throttled it. Tried to start a number of times but couldn't, but finally managed to get it up eventually. I brought it to the workshop and found out that the battery was running very low. It was around 1 yr and 9 mths old at that time. The problem with it "dying" when it was idling hasn't happened since then though I'm still quite afraid that it might die on me again soon.

Any one else encountered this before?

Thanks!

1) Have you changed your engine oil? Old engine oil can cause some engine jerkiness and damage pistons. It could also be a worn clutch (unlikely since the PCX is quite new model), or jammed rear drum brake (not very likely also although brake dirt tends to accumulate in the drum over time).

2) The main cause would be the battery, stock battery is very weak so I've changed mine to a ballistic one... the charge on mine lasts longer now so I'm not really afraid of it dying off any time soon. Otherwise, take note that if you put down your side stand during idling stop, the idling stop cuts off and you will have to start your engine manually again.

Oh if you find it's your clutch problem, let me know cuz I've got an untouched un-opened clutch set collecting dust at home.

Hi, thanks for your reply.

I change my engine oil every 5k km or so. I read some posts here and there and I'm suspecting damaged piston too. Not sure where I got it from though. Maybe I can get my clutch and rear brake checked too. Any shops to recommend?

I do hope it's the battery problem. I haven't ride with idle-stop since I got my battery changed. It's quite scary when you're in a jam and the bike dies off. I just recalled that there's this time when I was squeezing between cars and it sort of died momentarily (wasn't on idle-stop mode). It came back to life when I gave it another twist. I realise when it dies, it's during when I closed and opened throttle. Can't think of anything that may have caused it. Wiring somewhere?

I went to unique @ autobay and i find them quite professional.

If yours is a stock bike... it's very difficult to get a damaged piston unless:

1. you ride in very dirty conditions and never clean your air filter and some particles might get in and damage your engine - in this case you should feel a loss of power too as the engine does not have enough air to burn the fuel.

2. you never run in the engine properly and full throttle everywhere you go...

3. Changing engine oil at 5k is really at the limit... depending on what brand and type engine oil you use, you may have to change the engine oil earlier.

My experiences for:

1. Haven't encountered yet because i threw out my stock air box and changed to a washable sponge air filter (something like those K&N types)

2. I almost full throttle everywhere I go, 90% throttle most of the time on straight roads though and 60% throttle in city... and my engine still purrs like a kitten...

3. I've tried OWS800, powerful but I had to change it at 3000km, Motul 5100 at 5000km but very no power, now using Motul 300V can feel the power difference, specs say can hit 5000km but I'm not taking my chances so I'm going to change at 4000km.
