I tried puting some oil into the key hole and the key but the problem is not that the key can't go in. The problem is t he key go in already cannot turn (i.e stuck).

I will go back to the bike shop to see what they would do, but I am anticipating that they will shrud all the responsibilities and give me lots of excuses, that's why I am preparing for other alternatives.

guys, need help urgently...i lost my givi 48l box key.... my important stuffs are in there... anyway to replace or key or change the damm lock??? or must break the whole box n change new one???

When I got my 2nd hand bike, it came along with a shitty box too.

It's very hard to turn, but I figured out a way. After I insert the key, I press the key down before turning. Tada!

Maybe ur box got a lousy keylock also, u can try to insert the key, then pressing it downwards or upwards before turning.

No harm trying.

The mechainsm sux lah for cheaper boxes.

Find a thin solid rod and hammer o tap out the hinge's joint.... both box and lockwill be reusable.

bring the bike with the box to the keyshop beside Regina Specialty (along Jalan Besar) .. i am sure he can help you .. though the price may be a bit pricy.. maybe in the region of 25-40 dollars.. this is just my estimation and not accurate.. he can make one for you .. juz bring along your i/c and your log card and your insurance paers.. in case he ask for it .. (he may want to confirm that is your bike before unlocking it )

he change the lock wif 2 new key............

only 10 or 15.........(i forgot)

well guys, update a little... as adviced i went to the lock smith beside LAB... he picked my lock, remove the key hole thingy n duplicated a new sets of keys for me..

 

whole process took abt half hr

price - $8 (include 2 new keys)

believe yea that oil is gd but some box The MECHANISIM ARE NO GD not all box so better to change tell the bike shop the problem believe they will help u ask them to repair make it work or fix a new one without any problem

Im sure you guys have seen those metal boxes found mostly on bikes like Africa Twin, Vstrom & TDM...

 

i believe those boxes are more durable compared to our normal givi boxes...

 

any idea how much are those boxes? can they be installed on bikes like phantoms? or do they need a special rack which can only be installed on those bikes?

are u refering to the side box or topbox...

topbox if im not wrong cost around $450+++...

Sidebox around $1k ++..

Brand is Hepco & Becker. Distributor is Mtechnik and Biketech21.

Other brand u can look at is Zega, Wunderlich.......

 

that is exclusive of the rack... top rack cost between $100 - $200...side rack cost around $300- $400....

there is not specific rack for phantom. U'll need to customise it and it will be very costly....

a givi 46l should do juz fine ...can get @ LAB or 219 or chiap lee ..but cheapest still @ LAB
