Riding Dad's Bike

Is it illegal to ride my dad's bike when im not a sub rider ?

Meaning the insurance only have my dad as the named rider.

 

i have my own bike, its just that sometimes my bike fail(touchwood) i may ride his bike to school or something.

 

Is it illegal to do so ?

 

If yes, adding my name to the insurance will incur a cost right? for example his insurance is $300 and mine for the bike is $1000. i would have the top up the balance?

DONT do such thing. Its 100% illegal. Kanna caught, big time trouble. If cannot pay fine, must sit prison.

 

If you are involved in any road accident (be it you are right or wrong), you have to fork 100% from your own pocket to pay for the medical bill and damage. The insurance will base on the youngest age rider. With regards to your topping up query, perhaps you can call up the insurance company to get quotation.

better to top up the few hundred dollars than to get caught, have your license revoked, wait for a year and retake your license back from the start.
