Try search RaceChrono

This is a GPS-Based Lap timer which can turn a S60/WM system smart phone with GPS module into a lap-timer

Compare to IR-sensor laptimer it can give you sector times as MotoGP style

For example, it separated Johor circuit into 3 sectors. So you have better idea between lap to lap rather than just get total lap time

I had tried this with a WM6.5 phone in Johor Circuit for more than one year and it works well to me

Hope it helps, cheers

Starlane have several models their is an agent on Upper Serangoon, I think they are called Racelab. The baseline is a lap timer, the top range has revs, gears, all sort sof info like a full racing dash. I have the mid range and it does laps, sectors, stores info and can download the map on the PC with 4 sectors, plus RPM and Gear Indicator. and real GPS speed.

I dont use it anymore as I have an inbuilt system in my Aprilia (with a GPS attachement from Starlane) PM me if your interested.

I'm using a Nokia phone with a package called "Racechrono". THe Nokia must be using Symbian S60 for this to work. I use an external GPS receiver Qstarz with the Phone receiving the signals over bluetooth. I'm really happy with this, it givers you lap-times and sector times as well as speed at any point on the track. You can compare sector times from lap to lap and it also gives you the best laptime combining all your sector time.

I bought a Nokia 5230 at $240 and the GPS receiver at around $100, the Racechrono software is free. So for less than the price of a dedicated lap-timer I get a system that gives a lot of information.

I can really recommend this solution to anyone.
