Bros, I've got a problem with my bike. Just now I started my bike and the idling suddenly has become erratic. If I let it be, the engine will die off. So I increased my idling and it was stable. However once on the road, the pickup of the bike is affected. The bike moves jerkily even when I shifted the gear. I want to move off from gear one also have to rev high and the bike will move slowly and suddenly without warning, pick up speed. Once I got back to my carpark, I noticed that blak smoke is coming out from the exhaust and the inside of the exhaust is filled with black soot. I switched off the bike, let it cool down for a while and turned it on again. Now, the rpm rise to 4K and the engine is loud. Anyone riding 02 R1 has any idea what is happening? Any idea what the problem is and how to rectify the fault???

No mapping done on my bike eversince I bought it in October last year. Doubt that the air filter is choked cos I just had it serviced and cleaned two weeks back... :weep:

could be your auto choke then ....

cause for EFI bikes, your idlings supposed to be above 2k on cold start right? in your case your auto choke's not on and thus the engine kept on dying on u unless u need to hold on to increase the idling point to compensate the auto choke ....

if u need to high rev your bike to move off from gear 1, most probably your EXUP servo motor is not working well ...

Er ... best is send to bike shop for confirmation

What say u

yes your engine is well protect against overheating and power is being maximise even in the hot afternoon when u are riding

But the 1 and only bad thing is that your fan will get spoil very easily ....

yup u are right ... to change a brand new fan is far more cheaper than changing a brand new engine or overhauling an engine ....

maybe it may take a year or so for your fan before u need to change a new one. But it also depends on your usage of your bike since your fan is on once u on your lights ...

oh by the way, just check your engine oil level once a week to ensure that there is enough engine oil cause i have seen and heard of cases where engine oil leaks out or spills out from the hose ....

also extend your hose more in a way that the mouth faces down so that water will not drip into the hose and flow into the engine since its raining nowadays and the mouth of the hose is facing up ....

u know what i mean?

Well bro, from what i know is that engine lifespan won't "die" so easily as long as u did not do any mod on your engine ....

Bringing down the temperature helps to prolong engine lifespan and maintains engine performance so it is not really an issue about having negative effects

But i understand your point as maybe u trying to ask any side effects on the engine performance right which i don't think will cause any lah

tks tks for ur info....mayb i juz try to wack it ts weekend when follow u guys in to msia keke
