guys, mi just found out that the k5 1000 and the k6 1000 got some differences. tried to fix the K5 fork onto the k6, canot fit. the triple clamps are different....

Yesterday was history, tomorrow is mystery, today is a blessing. I love today.

1998: honda hurricane

Er... the pictures actually came from the Yamaha Canada website.

 

It was all over the R1-forums.

 

Apparently, someone ACCIDENTALLY put out the webpage for a few hours one day, and it disappeared after that. Looks like some guy there is gonna lose his job for this leak.

 

This might be THE real thing. Just like in 2003 September, when days before official release, some photos were leaked... and they said that the rear pillion pegs looked like they're photochopped in 'cos they stick out of nowhere. Later, we knew that the pillion pegs came out diagonally from between the exhaust pipes. ;)

 

 

 

The new bike has everything that it was rumored by some industry insiders from Akrapovic. 6-pot front brake calipers. A new braced swingarm.

 

It's rumored to have a new 4-valve engine and some sort of VVT-i (similar to VTEC) on it. And perhaps a slipper-clutch, gear shift indicator, and also a variable length velocity stack (ala MV Agusta F4 1000 Tamburini.... although this sounds a bit far fetched).

 

 

Well.... We'll soon know the truth on 9th October.

 

But I'm betting this might be the real thing.

 

 

 

Too bad, in my opinion, the design is a set back for the R1. It doesn't look as smooth or sharp as the 04 to 06 R1. The new ram-air inlets are ugly, to integrate with the head lights. And the headlights are more rounded than the 04R1. Not sharper at all.

 

Lastly, the tiny tail might look good on the R6, but it doesn't seem to work with underseat pipes.

 

 

Oh well.... Can only make a final judgement call when we see REAL snapped photos of it on the Intermot... or better, when it arrives next year in the flesh.

My conclusion is that the 2004 / 06 bike still looks better in many aspects. But the new bike will no doubt handle better and go faster. :D
