Your Steering Nut is actaully hidden under the top clamp and is inaccessible, it is castellated and most of us(including bike shops) won't have the correct tool to tighten it, most of the time they use a flat head screw driver and hammer to turn the castellated nut... This is the nut that will affect your steering, it holds the bearings and the whole main Steering Stem together. There is even a lock 2nd lock nut to ensure positive locking that it does not work loose thru the years of riding...

 

What I think you are refering to the Stem Head Nut (star shaped), this nut does not have such a crucial steering role as the above mentioned 1, its only purpose is to hold the top clamp to the steering column and has a torque loading of 65 ft-lb (+/- 5ft-lb) on it and over-tightening it may result in loss of manouverability.

 

Sorry about getting all technical with the nuts but its in my blood, its my job to know these thingys.

My guess is that it's the endcan only cos the full system for akra is around 2k??No street legal headers too if i nv remember wrongly & the endcan only cost around 1k..
