Daelim S3 fuel injection DOHC 125cc scooter

Dear All;

Managed to swap out the stock variator with the J.costa variator. It was actually not that difficult. A 5 min job involving removing the cover and the dreadful nut and putting the new variator in. I must say I have new found power/ acceleration. Though I have to throttle a bit more than usual from stationary to get the scoot moving, the scoot gets up to speed pretty fast, faster than stock. Acceleration was crisp. I tried to go for top speed and I could manage 125 km/h on PIE. I then throttled back to the legal speed limit (+/- 100 km/h and was surprised to find that the RPM hovers between 8.5 to 9K! I could obtain better top speed at a lower rpm than stock (stock would require at least up to 10K )!

Fellow S3 riders just drop me a message if you are interested in the J.costa mod.

Hey Bro, how much u manage to get? Sounds interesting, do u think we can get a mass ordering going along? Only thing is installation right, with the right tools?

Ride safely everyone. Seems like beating the red light is the in thing. Watched a couple of accident clips. Even green light in favour for a few seconds also not safe anymore.

Yo Bro;

U are right. We can start a mass order. The price is Euro 128.10. shipping is Euro 25 per set. But I suppose the more persons sharing the lower the shipping could be. But it should not be more than this amount. Let me know who is interested.

That sounds great! :)

FYI, (especially to foxz) I managed to get the irritating "rattle" sound resolved once and for all - The culprit was actually the plastic plate with the "Daelim" word on it. For those with the storage box, the plastic plate has been removed but for mine its there since I don't have storage box. Nothing to do with engine or other components of the bike.

Sounds silly though. Check for your parts and ensure all fixtures are tight.

I checked mine and it happened to be the license plate. It was secured to the frame using 2 screws. I added a rubber washer for each screw to dampen the vibration and it helped a lot!

Hi dluberk, I might be interested but I would like to know the PO close date if you are arranging. Secondly, will you be conducting a "live" demo for those still on the fence? :)

Hi Hishouken;

I will have to see whether the set of heavy duty wrench and sockets I got today works on my own bike first. Otherwise, will have to loan an impact wrench or go to a workshop. I can also do a life demo. It is pretty easy. I may also post some photos to show how easy it is. Anyone who is interested just let me know. Reply to this thread. I will PM you. I will set the cut-off date to be 2 weeks from now, 13 Jan 2359 hrs.

Since we're on the petrol topic, I was wondering if what my dad say makes any logic anot..

I spoke to him about my engine very rough, especially from cold start till ~8-10km then the roughness goes away..

Then he ask me did the problem came after I pumped RON98 petrol?

Coincidently, the timing was somewhere then, but not immediate first pump..

He told me some engine cannot take high RON petrol.. and he advice me to change back to RON95..

Now left 2 bars, might try pumping 95 see how..

But technically, is it logical? (May pop the question to Roy when I go for my servicing)

Edit:

Oh ya.. and when I put in Feul Injector cleaner in RON98, no roughness from cold start whatsoever..

Cannot be bike so new (Sept 2012 choot 1) FI already dirty right?

Hi dluberk, for the J.costa variator - Do you know whether if this modification will run into "issues" with LTA and CKA in the near future? Sorry for the noob question.

Hi hishouken;

I spoke to CKA. They mentioned that the warranty only covers the engine. The variator and especially the roller weights are wear and tear parts not subjected to the warranty claims. Wrt LTA, so long as you do not modify the exhaust nor the engine capacity, you are safe.
