What happened to the tan seat that comes with this colour? I was hoping for someone to trade it for my black ones :)

Cheers

Cat

the previous owner (bro paithorn) wrapped over the original tan seat with black seat cover as the crotch area of the tan seat wear off and water will seep in and contaminate the seat foam underneath.

I have checked the BMW part list, they only sell the complete seat, seat cover not sold separately. Not easy to find the correct colour and texture.

My buddy asked me to pose like the Guzzi advertisement.

Hmmm... you took out the shield huh? I always feel this bike will look better and more "muscular" without the shield but it is just too useful for me to remove it...

I have searched Lavender area for the same texture and colour to no avail... so I just did a black wrap-over. If you really want the tanned version, just remove this wrap-over but there is a chance water will seap in if parked under heavy rain...

BMW Motorrad's 1st Supersports 'S 1000 RR'

http://www.mcnews.com.au/2008_Bikes/BMW/S_1000_RR/Speech.htm

" ... But you can be sure that the innovations we are introducing are absolutely convincing. One example is the special traction control you will find on the new machine. Again, however, we cannot give you any further information today.

As you may expect of BMW Motorrad, the design of our BMW Supersports will be absolutely unique and very different. While it will of course reflect the usual design language in the segment, it will at the same time offer a strong and powerful message from the BMW brand."

I am curious about the "innovations" that are on the bike.

Cheers

I heard some rattling sound from the front and when I check, I found that my both front brake pad is loose inside the calipers when the brake lever was'nt depress. but when i brake, front the pad function as normal.... is this normal?? the brake pad was changed not long ago

someone say its the spring clip on the pads, some have some don't. I remember my ex f650gs pad dont have spring clip but it dont have a rattling sound...

Are you referring to item number 14? 34112338247 spring, brake caliper

If not, the rattling sound may be caused by your disc plates.

Agree with XiaoMing, the clip spring (part 14 in his diagram) could be missing or deformed hence not doing its job.

Another (unlikely) scenario is that the piston’s seals are somehow loose, hence the piston retracts does not hold the pads in place except when you use the brakes.

Just my $0.02 worth …. :)

Do let us know the outcome of this thingy ...

Cfm its the brake pad, I can "play" with the pads in the calipers :D

the spring is for model 2001 and up ie BMW calipers, those older model using the brembo calipers dont have the spring as part.

I will check with m-tech when doing servicing and update again :-)

Wow, they save about 1gram and US$1 for removing the spring and retaining nuts. kekeke...

I think BMW lost money on this one ... they could have sold the screw for $2, the spring for $5 and charged $50 for the labour! ........... keke

Got my ohlins back, will fit it back on and see how it feels. Frankly, in my view at $540, it's worth considering the extra $60 to remove the shocks, service and then install and set up (which Bike Lab provides). Just the benefit of hindsight, I supposed.

Do they sell the parts separately? May be they sell as whole unit leh...

Piaggio don't sell the top box reflector as separate parts, lost 1 reflector, you have to buy the whole unit... smart neh...

Maybe f650gs' brake calipers on his bike does not have the ability to take the spring and screw, must look see.

Ya, many motorcycles manufacturers have silly parts resale policies sometimes, like moto guzzi eagle emblem on the Sport1200 cannot be purchased by itself, must buy whole fairing!

My scooter now funky, brake light sometimes working sometimes not, explains the recent tendencies for cars to loom in my mirrors suddenly ... keke

Does anyone know if Pml still allows test rides on their bikes?

How long do they allow it to go on for?

Most people go through life following the crowd.

Others think for themselves.

They go their own way.
