i think if you can smell fuel, you better get it checked. once i had a bike that was serviced by some shops mentioned above where they replaced the a rubber gasket for the fuel pump/tank mounting with a paper one that leaked petrol all over the place. when i took the bike over from the owner, i got the similar "its like that one" but on furhter investigation, it turned out that i was riding a potential molotov cocktail.

i know of bikes going up in smoke due to old fuel lines/connectors failing. I suppose buying 3rd party, fire and theft would be a good idea, if you think its ok to smell fuel while riding your bike.

Yes, I know it's not normal to smell fuel (my last bike has this problem, only worse, so I know). That's why I wasn't pleased with the mech's answer as I know it's bull. In Singapore you just have to be careful since if you are not mechanically inclined, shops will ride roughshod all over you giving you all kinds of silly excuses.

The problem is if the mech is not willing to check there is not much I can do. That's why must bring the bike in with some other problems, let them earn a bit. Maybe then they are more willing to open up your tank to check the hoses, etc.:(

Luckily, I think it's not very bad yet. The smell comes on and off. But I will definitely roll the bike in soon.

Can I take this opportunity to ask another question? :cheeky:

When my bike is idling in neutral and I don't clutch in, the is a kluck-kluck-kluck knocking sound. Pull in the clutch and it disappears. Release and it comes back. Are the gears loose of something?

I wanted to fix but my R1150R wheel has a ridge along the centreline of the rim plus the flat surface around the valve stem hole is too small for the Bridgeport valve. I can file the valve to fit but I gave up the idea and fitted a cheapo 90 degree angle valve eventually.

Has anyone tried using Bridgeport valves?

you should fix angle valves for the two rims, easier to pump air for the tyres.

Bridgeports are angled valve :)

Another alternative, a 90 degree valve stem adaptor. Keep one of this in the tool kit and screw it on when you fill the tyres :thirsty:

To those riding a roadie; here's a mod for a neater look:

Be warned tho, road spray will pepper your back after the chop. The Ducati Monster guys regularly do a tail chop too.

Cheers

Exclusive BMW agent at risk

By Christopher Tan

PERFORMANCE Motors, the vehicle dealership owned by Malaysian conglomerate Sime Darby, could lose its exclusivity as a BMW franchisee - just six months after moving into its new $60 million showroom in Alexandra Road.

The Straits Times understands that BMW is close to appointing a new party to sell its M cars - the Bavarian marque's high-end sports range.

Sources point to Indonesian-Chinese businessman Anthony Chan, 41, as the front runner. Singapore-based Mr Chan has motor businesses in China, including a BMW dealership in Xiamen.

Got a burnign question here... Should I or should I get a RT1100???

WHAT YOU WAITING FOR....????

Bike has been out for many years and many still happily on-the-road.

Seen quite a few heading to Phuket for the 2009 PBW and many more all over Singapore.

It is a proven... good-bike and is totally comfortable for a bike of its size.

10 cents.... IF u can guess what bike I ride. :)

Cheers....

live life like a drama //

This morning I discovered some low-life bas**** vandalized my bike. He stole the 2 emblems at the side of the tank. I think he used a screwdriver as there are some deep scratches left on the tank.

This is the 2nd time. A few weeks ago, some creep (could be the same a**hole) dented my fender extender. I told myself then that I would get an alarm, but procrastinated as I couldn't decide which one to get. Now I regreted...

I intend to make a polics report but I doubt it will solve the problem.

My car park is near 2 secondary schools and so all kinds of people pass through it. Also, there is a basketball court so there are people playing late into the night. Any of these people can do something funny to the cars/bikes.

I have caught students sitting on my bike and trash cover placed on a car.

I will try to get the town council to install security cameras but I doubt they will bother.:weep:

Does anybody know what can help to polish off the scratch marks and where to get? Appreciate any help.

This picture is not clear but if you look carefully you may see the dent near the right side of where the extender connect to the front fender.

I was still wondering where I can get a shop to use heat to bend back into shape and now this... :pity:

Man, nothing spoils your day more than going to your bike one morning and finds it vandalized. Hate to say this, but I am beginning to support caning for vandals.

Anyway guys, I think you should consider installing an alarm too, in case something like this happens to your bike. You never know who may be eyeing your BMW.
