Dear fellow enthusiasts.

My 1200GS Adventure top box along with my TourX and Fog Lamps has been stolen.

Appreciate you guys to do your part for the biking community to stamp out petty crimes and refrain from buying stolen goods if you happen to have an offer.

Handle Bar lock your bikes, cover your bikes and please set your alarms everytime you park your bikes. Do whatever to prevent such petty crimes from happening. Please help to disseaminate this incident around. I've informed the various bike shop owners that I know, including the all popular M-Technik.

If anyone here has any information of such stolen parts on sale anywhere, please feel free to call me at 94759900 or email me at [email protected]

feel for you. had experienced a similiar incident about a year and a half ago at a mscp.

sh!t happens. let us remind ourselves as we slacken on security after time passes... it takes a kind soul like you to remind us on how vulnerable parked bikes are.

sad. i hate to hear such news... so sorry for you gabby..

For the purpose of sharing with the rest of the people here. Yes lucky I had my topbox on ONLY. The Adventure topbox is extremely difficult to pry off from the rack. So guess what? They removed the rack itself. Only 4 Torx Key nuts to remove.

Most parts on the bike requires Torx keys to remove, which gave me a hunch that my bike was targetted way before operation "BoxFOG". And after some of my own investigations and interviews with ppl I know around my estate. (eg. Filipino Maids, Neighbours, Friends that stays around the area).

Crime was committed between 12:30pm to 6pm, 25th July. Saturday. CAN U GUY IMAGINE ??? BROUGHT DAYLIGHT!!!!!

For those who is riding the 1200GS Adv. like wikipedia?? Remember to arm your alarms and Cover your bikes to avoid unwanted attention.

Greetings to all Inmates,

Intend to replace my 08 GSA Conti Trial Attack tyre which clocked 24k plus km since new for a road bias touring tyre.

Understand the GSA front wheel tyre size limits the availability to certain models for road touring tyres.

I do not see myself going off road as i do all my riding on road so a dual purpose tyre does not serve my intend well besides aesthetic purpose only.

Any recommendation on what road touring tyres available and bike shop familar with BMW bikes in terms of Quality service, workmanship and value for money is greatly appreciated.

My contacts are limited to PML and M Technik.

Those of you who read my posts a few pages back will know my bike got vandalized twice.

First, the 2 tank badges were pried away. Two weeks later, the 2 plastic badges on the side boxes met the same fate. A few days later, my mom found 1 of the tank badges discarded on a grass patch.

I posted here to warn fellow riders of these low-lives. In a way, I was luckier in that mine was a casual vandal (most likely students) and nothing expensive was lost.

Learning from this, I have since installed an alarm and make an effort to cover my bike every night, as suggested by some of you here. Although a bit of a pain, I think the extra protection this offers far outweigh the inconvenience.

This unfortunate incident again serves to remind us not to scrimp on security. The badge on our bikes alone (except mine:pity:) acts as dinner bell for crooks. Don't risk suffering the same anguish. Invest in proper security!

I wanted a GS since I got my class 2 then decided that a Roadie would be much more practical since I am no off-roader. Anyway, Conti has a ContiRoad Attack variant and the Pilot Road seems to come in 110/80 R19, and so does the Bridgestone Battlax BT020. I believe that M-Tech has the last brand.

However, for your rear you may not find a matching set, looks like the Michelin Pilot Road 2 and Metzeler Roadtec Z6 could be options tho. I would go with the Michelin tyres, pretty good and the Road 2 has good reviews. YMMV.

On security, just had someone lifted the cover of my bike to peek a look, kinda worrying, huh? ah well, ..... que sera sera.

Cheers

Perhaps it could be the parking attendant checking on season parking if you are parking in HDB carpark... happened to me.

Scream the guy off first, before finding out who he is. Or like me, simply use a lock to lock my covers, how to gonna check my season-parking, thats another issue (of theirs)... :cheeky::cheeky:

Cat and Yem Pual tks for your inputs.

Cat as usual is spot on wrt to Michelin and Bridgestone front and rear tyre combo for the GSA1200 due to the front tyre size.

Pilot Road for front and Pilot Road 2 for rear.

Pilot Road(old model) might be past their shelf life if you can find one.

BT 020 for front and BT 021 for rear is another option.

But i don't really like them as compared to the Michelins.

Dunlop Road Smart have the right size, however the local agent don't have it and don't intend to bring them in as of now.

Might have to go back to Dual purpose tyres for the GSA.

Are the Pirelli Scorpion Trail any good?

Cheers

Ok and so here's what we got:-

BMW GS1250 R

By Oberdan Bezzi -

New bikes

29 June 2009 15:33

Totally new but with evolution and not revolution.

The new Queen of the Enduro Tourer will be the legitimate heir of the GS.

More powerful, lighter new GS has a all new distribution of weight and all the frame measures are changed.

Many details are derived from the HP, but many are studied on purpose for the new model.

The aesthetic part will be more aggressive and sporty, but decidedly recognizable like BMW. Totally new. Totally BMW. Totally GS
