any recommended workshop i can do a full check?

There is no exact "correct" consumption. I would say that a fair range is 14 to 19 km per litre, depending on how you ride your bike. Before you take the plunge, measure your actual consumption by topping of your fuel and then averaging it over distance travelled at the next top-up. My 1150 returns about 19.5 km/l for long trips and 17 km/l for city riding. In the hands of another rider (he knows who he is) it went to 13 km/l, likely due to more aggressive style.

The loss of power; is it surging or a loss of power? I would clean out the air-filter and change the plugs first, if these items have not been changed.

As always, for a full check I'll recommend Alan of Perfection Motors.

Cheers

Checked with PML today.

I asked if my bike was affected by the recent recall and would like to confirm what the problem is.....

I was told that there isnt a problem...... but an "upgrade" :dot::dot:

I guess you can see the glass half empty or half full.....

But it was empty...... how come they fill it up for you???

I am just glad they they have me on the list and waiting for the parts to arrive and they will be calling me in for the "upgrade"

I guess everyone and anyone not sure if you are affected, do give them a call for this possible free "upgrade"!!!

That's kind of ridiculous! A recall is a HUGE matter especially when brakes are concerned. It seems like they are just brushing off the issue.

An upgrade with replacements of parts? Any idea which parts they are planning to replace? :thirsty:

if im not wrong..

for the 2010 twin cam gsa, the "upgrade" is for the camshaft position sensor on one side only. It is installed 4 degrees out of proper alignment.

The fix is simply to reinstall the sensor, but requires a special tool the PML has just got hold of.

This upgrade will take 2-3 hours max as told by kris.

I dun know about yours though

as for me.. i'm scheduled for next week for this "upgrade".

cheers

Hi kim,

my RT also experience backfire. As a matter of fact, everytime when i cruise along the highway. The back fire occurs only when i close the throttle, assuming i was travelling at 100-120kmh, then when i need to slow down or exit, i would need to brake and when that happens..."BIANG...BIANG....", sometimes cars and bikes around me will also get a shock.

But i dont experience loss of power or drastic change in FC, everything is normal. However, i will be visiting Alan sometime Mid Jun for a thorough check-up.

The sad part of sending the bike to Alan is that you may need to leave it there for weeks before you can ride again, cos Alan is the only guy there that service the bikes. He practically does everything by himself, but i guess you get what you pay off in the end, this guy is good, i heard.

Lets go down together, since we work at the same place.... and also must get brembo along too..

see ya..

Honestly, i have not the chance to ask as he mentioned that my 08 GSA will be needing to go in for the upgrade.... parts have not arrived yet he claims and will schedule me in as soon as they get the parts in....

I guess before i go in... i ask what exactly needs to be done and how long the down time will be.

just get the kit from PML (if they have) or order from overseas and get outside mech to do it. common item that we have to replace on machines after 4-5 yrs to ensure top notch braking. you have to do both the front and back on a periodic basis.

you may want to research the net for compatability.

i got the front and back for a K11 awhile ago for approx $220 from PML or abroad.

Tell you guys something I saw today ...

Went to VICOM to inspect a bike, saw a Harley being hauled in by a LTA patrol bike, asked to line up to get his bike inspected. Harley rider was in his club colours, looked very indignant. After my inspection I spoke with the bike inspector who inspected my bike:

ME: Do you get this a lot?

INSP: Very common one, this type

ME: This one how? Can pass or not?

INSP: This one confirm liao, come in that time already so loud.

ME: What is the punishment?

INSP: $500 first time, next time $1,000. Dunno why these riders spend money so they can kena spend more money to give garment.

ME: What bike most common?

INSP: RXZ and Harleys.

ME: So you want to pass him also cannot ah?

INSP: Inspection not me, I can only do road tax. Need special inspector one.

ME: (in my mind) confirm liao liao.

I think be careful, guys, the work goes on for the LTA.

Cheers

Hi, Benz

I think you can fit a Hepco rack if that is fine with you.

Most riders I know use a cassette adaptor with 3.5mm jack to connect the MP3 to the built-in deck:

Anyone know where I can get die-cast of our beemers? Looking particularly at R1150GS Adv. I have looked around department stores and and some hobbyist shops and the closest I could find is R1150R.

Hey benz

I'm not sure if electronics stores still carry these, I'm guessing Sim Lim might still have these, not too sure though ...
